Game Description:

We're proud to offer this great-looking and great-playing Back to the Future pinball machine! This game is one of the most popular titles ever released by Data East Pinball and still remains popular today among collectors and enthusiasts alike. It was also produced in lower numbers, which makes the game a bit harder to come by, so we feel quite fortunate to be able to offer this excellent-quality example of this top title and are sure it will provide a lot of fun and excitement for it's next owner for years to come.

Back to the Future is based on the motion-picture trilogy of the same name, featuring actors Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Lea Thompson. Features from all three films are designed into the pinball game, including speech and music clips from the movies.

Shoot the D-M-C drop targets to light "Back in Time" locks. Shoot balls to the up-kicker to have them shot up and locked in the left wireform ramp. Get 3 balls locked to start wild 3-ball Multiball play! Shoot ramps to score jackpot points during Multiball. Complete the D-M-C targets during Multiball to light Twin Jackpots for 1 MILLION POINTS!

This game has all of the best pinball gadgets and features including 3 pop bumpers, drop targets, a spinning target, up-kicker, kickout saucer, ramps, and more!

This game is one of the best ever produced by Data East Pinball, and even though the multitude of rules and modes on this game will be more than enough to keep you busy, the game play is fun and straightforward enough to be entertaining and fun for any players, regardless of skill and age. These are the true signs of a well-designed pinball, and we're sure after a game or two, you'll agree!

Game Condition Details:

Overall:
Over 60 hours have been invested in the overhaul and reconditioning of this classic pinball game. It easily meets our criteria for an "Excellent Condition" rating, which is near our top rating for a used, reconditioned game.

Playfield on this game is in excellent condition, showing very few signs of previous use. It features a factory-installed Mylar covering which has helped to protect and preserve the original playfield finish. A few outlying areas that were not originally covered by Mylar have had some wear/tear from normal use over the years, and some touch-up work has been done to improve some of these spots. We have also added some additional pieces of Mylar to some areas to add protection and help preserve the game's condition for many more years to come.

Playfield has been stripped of all parts- right down to the bare "wood and paint", cleaned, polished, and detailed, to restore it's finish. All mechanisms on the playfield (including gadgets, kickers, bumpers, flippers, targets, and more) have all been removed, overhauled and reconditioned, and reinstalled and adjusted for proper functionality, good looks, and reliable operation.

Flippers have been upgraded to incorporate some newer, better, modern parts and design, for added reliability and performance. Drop target assembly has been fully rebuilt, including all brand-new drop targets and decals/stickers. All round standup targets and the spinner target have also had their decals replaced with brand new ones. All other assemblies and mechanisms have also been fully overhauled and rebuilt including pop bumpers, kickout saucer, up-kicker and ball lock assembly, slingshot bumpers, and more. And of course the playfield features all new rubber rings and bumpers throughout, and new light bulbs as well.

All of the artwork plastics on the playfield on this game are original and in great condition, and were all removed and fully cleaned- top and bottom sides- and reinstalled and secured with brand new
nylock nuts and hardware to restore an original "day one" factory look.

Cabinet and Backbox: Most of the cabinet exterior has been repainted with a fresh coat of dark blue gloss paint. Some flaking off of the original paint was present in most of these areas on the backbox and main cabinet so we cleaned up and restored these areas with fresh paint. The game's original artwork on the cabinet and backbox sides has been retained and is in great shape showing only a few signs of past use and age- overall very nice looking.

All of the metal parts and black carriage bolts on the exterior of the game have also been removed, refinished, repainted, and reinstalled, to reflect an original, new "factory" look. Cabinet also includes new white nylon gliders installed on the back panel, new flipper buttons installed on the cabinet sides, a new backbox lock decal on the back of the game, and fully reconditioned and repainted coin door. A new chrome ball shooter housing and parts have been installed to restore "like new" action to the ball shooter.

All circuit boards inside the backbox have been inspected to ensure good healthy condition and reliable operation. Many parts have been replaced or upgraded for better, more reliable operation, including new parts on the power supply and several new connector plugs with heavy-duty connector pins for improved connection and reduced heat buildup. A new remote-mount battery holder with connector has been installed to replace the original board-mounted batteries for the MPU board (memory backup batteries). This not only provides reliable power to the memory when game is turned off, but prevents damage to the valuable circuit board should the batteries ever go neglected and burst/leak (common cause of circuit board damage and costly repairs in games that have batteries still on the PC board).

Both 16-digit score displays have been replaced with brand new units for longevity and added reliability. These once again have a great, brand-new, fresh look to them and are easy to read. ROM chips on the MPU board and sound board have been checked and upgraded to the latest revisions that include the latest bug-fixes and enhancements, where necessary. All fuses on all boards have been inspected to ensure proper types and values for proper operation and protection of the game's electronics.

Coin door on this game has also been restored completely- inside and out. Door was completely stripped-down into all individual parts. All parts were hand-cleaned, and metal parts were all prepped and painted in original factory semi-gloss black enamel, and entire door was reassembled and again appears just like brand new. Coin mechanisms are present in the game (U.S. quarter mechs) so game can be operated by coins, or "free play" if so desired. Coin door is complete with fully working wiring, switches, and coin mechanisms. A new lock and keys have been installed on the coin door as well.

This game features brand new leg bolts and levelers on the legs, as well as new leg protector pads. The new leg protector pads help to protect the cabinet finish against wear/tear from the metal legs- a nice finishing touch to this full overhaul.

Backglass on this game is original and in great condition showing very few signs of use or blemishes.

Description
Overall view.
Main cabinet- left side. Solid blue portions of main cabinet and backbox have all been repainted on this game to restore the original look. Detailed artwork is original and in good condition with few signs of past use.
Main cabinet- right side. Legs feature brand new leg bolts, leg levelers, and protective leg pads to protect cabinet finish. Note new flipper buttons also. Cabinet side-rails and backbox hinges have been repainted in original semi-gloss black enamel, as have all hardware parts (bolts/screws) to restore factory finish.
Front of main cabinet, coin door. Coin door has been fully restored including full tear-down with all parts cleaned/reconditioned, and all black parts repainted in original factory semi-gloss black enamel paint. All wiring and parts have been cleaned and reassembled along with working coin mechanisms (U.S. quarters) so game can be operated with coins, or on "free play"- whichever you prefer.

Ball shooter housing has been replaced with brand new chrome housing. Lockdown bar on front of game is brand new.
Backbox- left side. Solid blue areas on backbox have also been fully repainted in gloss blue enamel, to restore factory look. Detailed artwork is original and in good shape. Some spots have been touched-up with paint, but a few average minor nicks/chips from use/handling over the years are still present on this previously-used game.
Backbox- right side.
Back side of game. Also fully repainted, and features brand new white nylon gliders installed on the "skids" on the main cabinet back, and new backbox latch decal as well.
Backbox- front view. Backglass on this game is original and in excellent shape with very few signs of past use/handling. Very well-preserved. Speaker panel is in great shape with all-new light bulbs installed behind center panel.
Back side of backglass. Original artwork is in great condition with no major blemishes or scratches/scuffs. Some of the white backing has worn off behind the "Back to the Future" words but is not unsightly when viewed from the front side. No cracks, flaking, or lifting are present in the rest of the artwork ("crack" looking marks in the upper left area are not blemishes- they are the back side of the lightning bolts in the artwork that can be seen on the front side).
Backbox insert panel and score display. Both 16-digit score displays have been replaced with brand new units in this game- a very expensive and time-consuming task, but will last and work well for many more years to come.
Backbox interior- circuit boards. All boards have been gone through and upgraded/repaired as needed, including upgraded power supply components for added performance and reliability, and worn connectors replaced with heavy-duty parts for reliable operation and reduced heat buildup. A remote-mount battery kit has been installed for the MPU board which gets the memory backup batteries off the board (as originally designed) and places them in a holder on the back of the insert panel. This protects the valuable MPU board from corrosion damage should the batteries ever go neglected and leak (a common and costly problem in most pinball machines with board-mounted memory backup batteries).
Main cabinet interior. Everything visible here has also been removed from the game, overhauled/cleaned/rebuilt and reinstalled. A new replay knocker assembly has been installed in the main cabinet to replace the original which was missing when we received the game.
