Game Description:

Frogger is an all-time classic arcade video game from legendary game manufacturer, Sega/Gremlin, and was produced in the early 1980's at the height of pinball and video game arcade popularity. Frogger was one of Sega's most successful and popular video games, and still remains popular among collectors and enthusiasts today.

In this game you control a frog, trying to make his way across a busy highway, and through a trecherous river, to get back home. To complete a level you must dodge moving cars, jump on logs flowing down the river, while avoiding snakes, alligators, and otters. Bonuses are awarded for finding and escorting "lady frogs" home, catching bugs that momentarily appear, and getting five of your frogs safely home.

Traffic increases and picks up speed, as does the mighty river and it's menacing traffic, as you move through successive levels. How many frogs can you get safely home?

Game Condition Details:

This game is in overall excellent condition for a classic 1980's vintage game. It has seen below-average use, good upkeep, and it definitely shows! With the limited use this game has had during its lifetime, and the good care it's had, it has really had it's original condition preserved well- inside and out.

This game has had a brand new monitor installed ($350 value) so the picture is clear, sharp, crisp, and colorful, and should last for years and years to come!

Control panel has had a brand new high-quality overlay (artwork) installed, for a fresh "day one" look. Controls (buttons/joystick) have all been rebuilt and adjusted for optimum performance, and are all original authentic game parts in fantastic condition.

"Plexiglass" over the monitor is brand new- scratch-free and crystal clear. No point hiding that fantastic new monitor picture quality behind an old scratched and foggy plexi!

The "marquee", or artwork at the top of the game above the monitor (has the name "Frogger" on it) is original and in very good condition. Coloring in the word "Frogger" appears to have some color-fading from age, which is very common on this type of game. No scratches, chips, or flaking of the artwork on the marquee- all artwork is in excellent condition.

Game cabinet is in overall excellent condition with only a few tiny nicks and scratches having been picked up from over the years, most all of which have been lightly touched-up for a more fresh overall appearance. This game has also had brand new
t-molding installed around both edges of the game, for a fresh "day one" new look.

New game levelers have been installed on the bottom of the game as well, for easy moving, and game levelling. No rusted, broken, or missing levelers on this game!

Coin door has been fully rebuilt, including a complete tear-down and removal of all parts, painting of the metal door and frame, detailing and cleaning of the coin mechanisms and plates, as well as all other associated hardware, and fully reassembled with a brand new coin door lock and keys- looks like brand new again!

Back door on the game has been fully repainted and has a brand new lock with keys. Interior of game has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out (see pictures below) and looks just like new again.

Minor Issues Related to This Original Game:
Aside from the newly-installed monitor (TV picture tube) this game is essentially original inside and out, and approximately 25 years old at this point (made in 1982). As with any older used vintage arcade game, some minor operational problems may come up periodically and should be considered an inherent part of owning and operating an older used game such as this one. Interested buyers are asked to carefully consider the responsibility of owning an using an older vintage game like this, and that periodic problems or maintenance are an essential part to operating a game like this as time continues on.

In the time we have owned and operated this game, we have had the following minor issues occur periodically:
  • Game reset when static-shocked: Occasionally walking up to the game and touching a metal part on the control panel or coin door will cause the game to "blink out" and reset. This is a fairly common symptom with most any older vintage arcade game like this and may occur periodically.
  • No sound after game turned on: Occasionally the sound, or "audio", will not be present after the game is turned on and play is begun. Simply turning the game off and back on has cured this problem.
  • Flourescent lamp behind top marquee: Lamp and starter in this game have been replaced during the reconditioning, but do take a little while to warm up and come on, after the power has been turned on.
Game is being sold in condition described herein and customers should be aware that the above minor issues may occur periodically.

Here is a detailed list of work that has been done on this game:
  • We have invested just over 35 hours of work in the restoration of this game.
  • Game cabinet stripped of all hardware, wiring, and mechanisms, and thoroughly cleaned.
  • Monitor replaced with brand new unit- 19 inch RGB color monitor ($350 value!)
  • Monitor plexi glass replaced with brand new scratch-free piece- gorgeous!
  • Marquee plexi cleaned- front and back sides.
  • Control panel overlay replaced with brand new high-quality overlay- looks like brand new again! New carriage bolts installed on control panel to secure panel and controls (no rusty bolts on this game!)
  • Control panel overhauled with all controls removed, disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt.
  • Custom game ROM chips installed with custom circuit board modifications/additions that add a feature for entering your initials when you get a high score! (Rare feature on Frogger games!) This modification will save the high score table in memory when the game is turned off, so it won't be reset every time you turn on the game! (Scores can be manually reset by owner/operator if so desired.)
  • Coin door assembly completely removed, disassembled into every individual part, cleaned, and reassembled. All metal parts for coin door front (door, frame) were individually repainted for reassembly.
  • New locks with keys installed on both coin door, and back door (2 total).
  • New t-molding installed on both side panels of game- all the way around (top to bottom) for like-new look.
  • New game levelers installed on bottom side of game for easy moving and game levelling.
  • Controls adjusted including monitor, buttons, and joystick, for optimum performance.
  • Cabinet cleaned completely- inside and out- and most nicks/scratches touched-up for overall fresh look.

Warranty on This Frogger Game: Due to the older age and originality of this game, we are only offering a limited warranty to local customers only. Warranty details are as follows:
  • Local Customers: 30-day warranty covering operation of game monitor (TV picture tube), power supply, main PCB board, and joystick/button controls. No other items or aspects are covered under this warranty.

  • Out-of-Town Customers: No warranty will be provided on this game, due to it's age and since we cannot be there in person to service the game for you. This is one of the limitations to buying an older original vintage arcade game such as this from an out-of-town source, and out-of-town customers are asked to carefully consider the risks and responsibilities of buying and owning and older game like this, and that periodic problems related to originality and old-age are often an inherent part of owning and using an older game such as this. For out-of-town customers, we recommend locating a repair person or company in your local area before you commit to buying any game from an out-of-town source, just so you have someone who can service the game in the event that it ever does need any in-person service. It's just good common sense.
Our warranty does not cover costs of any other service persons or shops other than our own. This warranty on this game is the only warranty it comes with, and supercedes any other warranty we offer.

As with any older vintage used arcade game, we ask any interested customers carefully consider the responsibilities of owning an older, used game such as this, and understanding that some minor operational problems may occasionally occur with older equipment such as this, due to older age. As always, we recommend having a game repair person or company in your area who you can call if the game needs any service "in-person", so please consider service and maintenance before committing to your purchase.
