Gilligan's Island is based on the pop culture TV sitcom of the same name, and features all the original characters from the show and speech clips done by Bob Denver, who played Gilligan. Backed by a great musical score, this game packs a ton of fun into the playfield with wild curving shots on the playfield and ramps, and even a working turntable which turns to change the path of the ball during play. Great artwork and colors complete the game and give it a very attractive look, feel, and play. A really well-designed classic Bally pinball.

The object in Gilligan's Island is to relieve the native's island god, Kona. This is done by shooting ramps and targets to collect all seven ingredients of the Professor's Secret Formula Lava Seltzer, and taking the Seltzer through the Jungle Run Trails to get it to Kona. Successful attempts are greatly rewarded with Kona's Treasure- a 50 MILLION POINT award!

Gilligan's Island features lots of great shots- loops and ramps- with great sound and speech effects and a great musical score to go along with play. Great colors and classic Bally artwork adorn the playfield and really make for a great, fun, pinball experience- for beginners and experts alike. Enough to really challenge the best of players, but still straightforward enough, and fun, for novice and "newbie" players alike.

Game Condition:

Overall: This particular game has been exceptionally well-preserved over the years and has clearly seen much lower-than-average use and very good upkeep which have both helped to preserve it's original condition very well. This game was originally operated in a non-smoking, non-food/drink location, so is very clean inside and out, and does not have any damage from spilled drinks/liquids, or any of the nasty cigarette smoke smell, as is common in so many used pinball games. The interior of the cabinet & backbox, and underside of the playfield are the give-away- both unusually and exceptionally clean throughout, indicating far less than average use for a commercial pinball game. This game was re-imported back into the U.S. from Austria, where it spent its commercial life. So it has had all the necessary electrical conversions done to it and has also had the coin door set up for use with U.S. quarters (coin mechanisms and pricing tags) so can be used in any location in North America without any additional conversion of any parts. A very nice example of this classic Bally pinball- great for any home setting or even any discriminating collector's lineup.

Playfield: Playfield on this game is in superb condition from top to bottom. This game features the famous "Diamondplate" protective playfield finish. Only a few tiny spots of wear were present on this playfield from normal use over the years- around some of the light inserts at the lower center of the playfield- and these were touched up during the restoration to restore their original look. Playfield has been stripped, cleaned, polished, and waxed to restore original look and give maximum playability and appearance. A brand new rare NOS plastics set was acquired and installed as part of the restoration, so the plastics add the finishing touch to this playfield and give it that "day one" new look. The ramp that runs from the top of the playfield down the right side is 100% original to this game and is in mint condition, with no cracks, chips, or breaks anywhere on it. It was fully removed, disassembled, cleaned, and restored. The rotating "Jungle Run" ramp assembly has also received a full overhaul, being completely removed from the game for tear-down and service during the restoration.

Cabinet & Backbox: Cabinet/backbox are in great shape having had only a few small nicks and dings from less-than-average use and handling over the years. Most all of these blemishes have been touched-up to be less apparent. Most of these were around the front and bottom edges on the backbox sides, and a few small light nicks on the main cabinet sides as well. Front of main cabinet had one scuff below and to the right of the coin door, which was touched up to restore the original look. Two small drill holes on either side of the coin door were present from a security bar that was previously installed, but these were filled with black carriage bolts to give it a "factory" look. No fading of the cabinet artwork is apparent on this game- game still has an overall bright, fresh, colorful appearance from top to bottom, and appears very fresh-looking overall. Most of the small nicks and scratches that were present were touched up to match the finish here and there. Some wear to the cabinet surface underneath each of the legs is present, but we have added new
leg protector pads and existing wear is not noticeable when these, and the legs, are installed on the game.

Back of main cabinet and backbox have also been repainted with matching gloss blue paint to restore original factory finish and provide good looks.

Coin door is in excellent condition and has been thoroughly overhauled and restored- disassembled into all individual pieces and parts. Metal parts and carriage bolts used for mounting have been repainted with correct semi-gloss black enamel paint. All internal parts have been cleaned and reassembled, including wiring harness and buttons/switches. Coin mechanisms are present and fully working, to accept US quarters for play. Game can also be set on "free play" for non-coin operation. New coin door lock and key installed. Looks and works like new- inside and out.

Backglass/Translite: Backglass mylar translite is in outstanding condition and 100% original for this game. No noticeable or obvious flaws are apparent on front or back sides. Dot-matrix score display has been replaced with a brand new unit. Original unit was fine and working when we received this game, but it was the original part and we decided to replace it with a brand new one since it was likely nearing the end of it's lifespan (most dot matrix displays last about 10 years on the average).

Here is a detailed list of work that has been done on this game, followed by more details on condition:
  • We have invested just over 50 hours in the detailed restoration of this game.
  • Playfield top and bottom surfaces stripped of parts and assemblies for proper cleaning- right down to the bare wood and paint. Playfield surface hand cleaned and polished to restore original finish.
  • All playfield parts have been removed and hand-cleaned, or replaced with brand new parts where necessary. This includes light bulbs, posts, ramps, wireform ball guides, flipper assemblies, under-playfield ramps, target banks, bumper assemblies, lamp PC boards, ball trough and associated parts, and any other parts that are installed on the playfield.
  • All metal parts removed from playfield have been hand cleaned and polished for original bright shiny finish.
  • Stainless steel ball guides refinished using our own in-house proprietary process. This removes the ugly "ball marks" from the stainless steel "rails" or "guides" that are found all over the playfield and on sides of lanes. Our process removes the marks and leaves a "like new" finish and look on these rails to restore their "day one" new look.
  • All ramps have been completely removed and fully disassembled into all of their individual parts, including having wiring harnesses and switches/plugs removed for proper cleaning. Ramps cleaned, polished, and all associated hardware and accessory parts cleaned, polished, and reassembled.
  • Rotating "Jungle Run" playfield/ramp unit fully removed from game, disassembled into all individual parts and fully cleaned, overhauled, rebuilt, and reassembled/adjusted for proper operation.
  • All pop bumper assemblies on this game were removed, 100% disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled. Any worn or broken parts replaced with brand new parts.
  • Flipper assemblies completely removed, 100% disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt with brand new factory-original parts, and reassembled. Flippers tuned and adjusted for optimum performance and reliability.
  • Brand new flippers installed on playfield.
  • Brand new NOS flipper buttons installed on main cabinet sides.
  • Brand new flipper button switch contacts installed on inside of main cabinet for optimum flipper performance.
  • Brand new full Rubber Ring Kit installed on playfield.
  • Brand new NOS playfield plastics set installed on playfield, replacing original pieces.
  • Fender washers installed under top and bottom edges of slingshot bumper plastics to protect them from cracking/breaking from airborne balls.
  • Brand new coil sleeves installed in mechanisms including pop bumpers, slingshot bumpers, and other kickers/assemblies.
  • All light bulbs on top and bottom of playfield, and elsewhere in game, removed, cleaned, and replaced. Brand new light bulbs used as replacements for old worn, discolored, or burned out bulbs and flasher bulbs.
  • All light bulb inserts (or "lenses") in playfield surface cleaned and polished for maximum shine and light penetration.
  • Brand new chrome steel pinballs installed in game.
  • Standup targets on playfield have all been individually removed from game and fully cleaned by hand- front and back sides, inside and out- and reinstalled.
  • Brand new yellow standup target installed to left of Jungle Run ramp.
  • Score and instruction cards have both been reproduced for clean clear looks, and hard-laminated for durability, and to prevent against damage in the future- these look great!
  • Both slingshot bumper assemblies have had their detector switches removed and hand-cleaned with tarnish remover to restore finish. Kicker mechanisms also fully removed, cleaned, and rebuilt.
  • Inside and outside of main cabinet and backbox completely stripped, parts individually hand-cleaned, and reassembled.
  • Coin door completely removed and 100% disassembled. All parts (including wiring harness and switches) individually cleaned and detailed by hand and reassembled. Coin door metal parts professionally repainted and refinished for that brand new "day one" look!
  • Brand new coin mechanisms installed in coin door.
  • Playfield glass lockdown bar removed, cleaned, and reassembled. Brand new strip of insulating foam rubber applied to underside of lockdown bar.
  • Brand new legs have been recently installed on this game.
  • Brand new leg levelers and nuts installed on all four legs.
  • Brand new leg bolts installed.
  • Brand new cabinet leg protector pads installed under legs for added good looks and protection against wear/tear to the cabinet corners.
  • Solder joints on light bulb and motor-control PC boards under playfield all reflowed and reinforced with fresh solder to prevent cracks and intermittent operation in the future.
  • All electronics (PC boards) in backbox checked and tested for proper operation and good looks. Fuses all removed, checked, and proper values verified- replaced where necessary. No burned or scorched/overheated connectors. Power supply components upgraded for reliability.
  • Remote-mount battery holder installed for MPU board in backbox. This prevents damage to the valuable MPU board from accidental battery discharge or leakage, which can destroy the board. Batteries are now mounted off-board and risk of damage is eliminated. Brand new fresh batteries installed.
  • Playfield glass replaced with brand new scratch-free sheet of tempered safety glass.
  • Touch-up repairs done with paint to most nicks and scratches on cabinet and backbox. Front of backbox "surround" fully repainted with gloss blue paint for "like new" look. Metal backbox "hinges" on cabinet sides removed and repainted with semi-gloss black paint to restore new factory look.
  • New white nylon gliders installed on back of main cabinet for fresh new look.
  • New nuts and screws added to playfield posts for fresh "day one" look. Including new nylock nuts on plastics and hex head screws on posts and metal ball rail guides and other assemblies.
  • Metal posts polished/shined including hex posts and standoff posts used throughout playfield.
  • Main cabinet interior walls repainted in gloss blue paint to restore original factory finish.
  • New protective Mylar piece added in "ball drop" spot under ramp in right return lane to protect and preserve finish.
  • New hex washer head screws installed in place of original phillips-head screws for mounting on top of posts and gates, etc. for fresh new look.
  • New t-nuts and post screws installed in several locations to replace worn or stripped original hardware.

Description
Playfield- overall view. Restoration complete and fully reassembled.
Playfield during restoration- stripped, cleaned, polished, restored, and re-assembly just starting. Still a LOT of work to go!
Lower area- flippers, slingshot bumpers, and score/instruction card cover. Note new hard-laminated score/instruction cards.

Some minor wear to the artwork on some of the light inserts in the lower center of playfield was present when we received this game, but these blemishes were touched-up during restoration to restore their look. Three center green "arrows" had new insert decals installed on them to restore the lettering to them.
Detail- middle lower playfield and right loop entrance.
Detail- left side of playfield and entrance to Jungle Run rotating ramp.
Detail- center playfield area and vertical up-kicker assembly.
Detail- upper left corner of playfield. This is the rotating "Jungle Run" ramp unit that changes the ball's path every time it turns! And of course Kona the volcano god. Gather all the ingredients for the Lava Seltzer and navigate your way through the Jungle to get the Seltzer to Kona for the big award!
Upper right corner of playfield- pop bumpers area. Note the outstanding condition of the original clear plastic ramp on this game- no cracks or breaks anywhere on it. Very well preserved.
Playfield underside. The majority of the cleanliness of the playfield underside on this game is actually original- not cleaned or reconditioned by us! That's how nice this game was when we received it- indicative of a game that has had very little use/play and has been maintained better than most- a "low mileage" example.

Note all of the rebuilt assemblies such as flippers, slingshot bumpers, pop bumpers, up-kickers, lamp PC boards, lamps and sockets, ball trough, and more. Note brand new flipper mechanical parts installed. All PC boards seen here (feature lamps and motor controls) have been fully cleaned and have even had new solder re-flowed on connector pins to prevent cracks and intermittent operation from vibration, which is common in average un-restored games.

Cabinet/Backbox:

Description
Game overall view.
Cabinet- right side. The whole cabinet on this game shows below-average signs of use/handling- very few nicks/scratches were present on any of the cabinet surfaces, and most were touched-up to be less apparent and restore the smooth clean look to the game (most being around the front and bottom edges on backbox sides). Really nice to see a used game in this good of shape after so many years. All colors on this game are still in great shape with no signs of apparent fading- really well-preserved.
Left side of main cabinet.
Backbox- left side. A few nicks were present on the front and top edges of the backbox side here. And one rather moderate scuff near the back edge toward the bottom. All were touched up to be less apparent and give a more uniform look to the game's finish.
Backbox- right side. A few small nicks and scratches from normal use/handling over the years were present on this side and most were touched up- primarily on the front and bottom edges.

Backglass artwork (translite) in this game is in superb condition with no signs of wear/tear or damage- really a nice example of the translite for this game.
Main cabinet front and coin door. Coin door has been fully restored, including full removal, tear-down into all individual parts, cleaning/reconditioning, and repainting of all metal parts in original semi-gloss black enamel.

A few small nicks and scuffs were present on the front of the cabinet and were touched-up. One larger scuff was present at the lower right corner of the coin door (rope knot area) which was repaired, repainted, and touched-up to match the original artwork/design.
Cabinet interior. Interior has been fully stripped and cleaned to restore original appearance. Cabinet interior side walls have been repainted in original gloss blue enamel for "day one" new look. Coin box is not installed in this shot, but is included with the game.

Like all pinballs we sell, this machine also comes complete with instruction/operation manual and schematics, and fully functional coin door with all parts present and working. For our local customers, this game also includes
delivery, setup, and a full warranty on parts and labor, at no additional charge. For out-of-town customers, we offer our limited warranty.
