Harley Davidson captures the excitement of an American Legacy: Harley Davidson Motorcycles. An officially licensed product, this game pays tribute to the great motorcycles of Harley Davidson and gives you a taste of the excitement of owning and riding one of these great legendary machines.

From the authentic sound of rumbling exhaust and the shake of the game when you press "Start", you'll think you were hopping on a "Hawg" for a ride with the wind in your hair! This game features a shaker motor that shakes and vibrates the machine as you hear the roar of the motorcycle starting up. Ride across the U.S.A. by completing targets, ramps, and other shots, all set to the background tune of "Born to be Wild" that plays as you score. Go for Harley Multiball and watch the 1/10 scale lifelike model of a 1999 FLSTF FatBoy® raise up from the playfield to capture balls as they shoot underneath. Lock 4 balls and have them shoot out from under the bike to start wild 4-ball Multiball play!

This game packs in fast play, including long sweeping orbit shots, a wild ramp shot that takes the ball nearly all the way around the perimiter of the playfield, four pop bumpers, two banks of drop targets, and features lifelike scale models of 3 classic Harley Davidson bikes.

Multiball and energy abound in this game! Play FOUR different Multiball modes in this game- each with different strategies and objectives. All shots add miles and advance the player toward the next city going across the U.S.A. Get to Milwaukee to start the final wild "wizard mode"!

VIDEO MODE: This game is one of only a few that features a "video mode"- a video game built into the game! Completing the four Harley Logo targets in sequence lites the lifelike Traffic Signal for Video Mode. Ride your bike down the busy freeway, navigating from lane to lane with the flipper buttons! Pass cars and people to gain points. How far can you ride?

BALL SAVE POST: This game features a unique gadget that was typically only found on a few older classic vintage pinball games- an "up-post" or "ball save post" between the flippers. The difference with this up-post is that it's controlled by the player, rather than the game. Press the white button on the right side of the cabinet (below the red flipper button) to activate the up-post and make it jump up, to prevent balls from draining between the flippers!

Harley Davidson features several other features and shots- loops, scoops, and ramps- with great sound and speech effects and a great musical score to go along with play. Great colors and classic Stern artwork adorn the playfield and cabinet and really make for a great, fun, pinball- and Harley- experience- for beginners and experts alike. Enough to really challenge the best of players, but still straightforward enough, and fun, for novice and "newbie" players alike.

Game Condition:

Overall:This game- while used and reconditioned- is only a few years old so has very little "mileage" on it, and has been cared for extremely well. This game was never used in a location where smoking or food/drink were allowed, so is extremely clean inside and out, and does not have any of the annoying smoke (or "bar") smell that so many used games suffer from. And no damage internally from spilled drinks or other liquids. Really preserved well- inside and out. The interior of the cabinet & backbox, and underside of the playfield are the give-away- both unusually and exceptionally clean throughout, indicating far less than average use for a commercial pinball game. A very nice example of this classic rare Stern pinball- great for any discriminating Harley or pinball collector's lineup.

Playfield: Playfield on this game is in superb condition from top to bottom. This particular game was one of a few that actually received a Mylar covering, installed at the factory, which has preserved the original finish of the playfield underneath it. The Mylar covers the main center area of the playfield, where most of the ball activity takes place. There is also a separate Mylar in the pop bumpers area at the left side of the playfield. Un-protected "less traffic" areas are still in great shape on this game with virtually no signs of use- extremely well-preserved and difficult to pick out any signs of use or wear/tear on this game.

Playfield has been stripped, cleaned, polished, and waxed to restore original look and give maximum playability and appearance. Mechanical assemblies and gadgets, including the elevating FatBoy® bike model, up-kicker, drop target banks, all four pop bumper assemblies, up-post between flippers, kickers, and more, all received full overhauls and were completely removed from the game during the restoration and disassembled into every possible part- all mechanisms and parts being fully cleaned and rebuilt during restoration. Along with the rest of our standard
playfield restoration processes we have also refinished all of the stainless steel ball rail guides so they have no "ball marks" and give a brand new appearance.

Cabinet & Backbox: Cabinet/backbox are in great shape having had only a few very tiny superficial nicks or scuffs here and there from normal use, all of which have been touched-up to be inconspicuous. Most of these were around the edges on the backbox, and a few small light scratches on the main cabinet sides. No fading of the cabinet artwork is apparent on this game- game still has an overall bright, fresh, colorful "factory" appearance from top to bottom, and appears very fresh-looking overall.

Backglass/Translite: Backglass mylar translite is in outstanding condition and 100% original for this game. No flaws are apparent on front or back sides. Score displays (dot matrix unit) is in great shape and has a clear, crisp look.

Here is a detailed list of work that has been done on this game, followed by more details on condition:
  • We have invested approximately 40 hours in the detailed restoration of this game.
  • Playfield top and bottom surfaces stripped of parts and assemblies for proper cleaning- right down to the bare wood and paint. Playfield surface hand cleaned, hand polished, and hand waxed with top-quality Carnauba wax.
  • All playfield parts have been removed and hand cleaned, or replaced with brand new parts where necessary. This includes light bulbs, posts, ramps, wireform ball guides, flipper assemblies, under-playfield ramps, target banks, bumper assemblies, ball trough and associated parts, and any other parts that are installed on the playfield.
  • All metal parts removed from playfield have been hand cleaned and polished for original bright shiny finish.
  • Stainless steel ball guides refinished using our own in-house proprietary process. This removes the ugly "ball marks" from the stainless steel "rails" or "guides" that are found all over the playfield and on sides of lanes. Our process removes the marks and leaves a "like new" finish and look on these rails to restore their "day one" new look.
  • All ramps have been completely removed and fully disassembled into all of their individual parts, including having wiring harnesses and switches/plugs removed for proper cleaning. Ramps cleaned, polished, and all associated hardware and accessory parts cleaned, polished, and reassembled.
  • Custom hole protector added for the kickout scoop near center of playfield. This hides any previous signs of use and protects the playfield wood edges from wear/damage in the future. Great looking, and functional, too!
  • Elevating FatBoy® bike assembly, which acts as ball lock for main multiball mode, was fully removed from game, disassembled into all individual parts and fully cleaned, overhauled, rebuilt, and reassembled/adjusted for proper operation. 1/10 scale bike model was cleaned and detailed as well.
  • Switch membrane for ball lock trough under elevating bike was removed and replaced with original NOS unit, including cable that connects it to PC board.
  • All FOUR pop bumper assemblies on this game were removed, 100% disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, and adjusted for optimum performance.
  • Flipper assemblies completely removed, 100% disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt with brand new factory-original parts, and reassembled. Flippers tuned and adjusted.
  • Brand new full Rubber Ring Kit installed on playfield.
  • All light bulbs on top and bottom of playfield, and elsewhere in game, removed, cleaned, and replaced. Brand new light bulbs used as replacements for old worn, discolored, or burned out bulbs and flasher bulbs.
  • All light bulb inserts (or "lenses") in playfield surface were cleaned for maximum shine and light penetration.
  • Brand new chrome steel pinballs installed in game (game uses FOUR total).
  • Playfield flat plastics (screened artwork) all removed, cleaned, polished, and replaced. No cracks, chips, or other damage present on any plastics.
  • Fender washers installed under top and bottom edges of slingshot bumper plastics to protect them from cracking/breaking from airborne balls.
  • Slingshot bumper plastics replaced with brand new NOS factory originals, to replace original used parts which had some cracks from previous play.
  • Standup targets (4 total) on playfield have been replaced with brand new NOS factory parts.
  • Score and instruction cards have both been reproduced for clean clear looks, and hard-laminated for durability, and to prevent against damage in the future- these look great!
  • Both slingshot bumper assemblies have had their detector switches removed and hand-cleaned with tarnish remover to restore finish. Kicker mechanisms also fully removed, cleaned, and rebuilt.
  • Inside and outside of main cabinet and backbox completely stripped of parts, cleaned, parts individually hand cleaned, and reassembled.
  • Cabinet interior side-walls repainted with fresh coat of semi-gloss black enamel paint for fresh clean factory appearance.
  • Coin door cleaned and detailed- inside and out. All parts (including wiring harness and switches) individually cleaned and detailed by hand and reassembled.
  • Playfield glass lockdown bar professionally re-chrome-plated for brand new "day one" look (original part is discontinued and no longer available new). Brand new strip of insulating foam rubber applied to underside of lockdown bar.
  • All four legs have been removed, cleaned, and shined-up to restore original look.
  • Brand new leg levelers and nuts installed on all four legs.
  • Brand new leg bolts installed.
  • Brand new cabinet leg protector pads installed under legs for added good looks and protection against wear/tear to the cabinet corners.
  • All electronics (PC boards) in backbox checked and tested for proper operation and good looks. Fuses all removed, checked, and proper values verified- replaced where necessary.
  • Remote-mount battery holder installed for MPU board in backbox. This prevents damage to the valuable MPU board from accidental battery discharge or leakage, which can destroy the board. Batteries are now mounted off-board and risk of damage is eliminated. Brand new fresh batteries installed.
  • Playfield glass replaced with brand new scratch-free sheet of tempered safety glass.
  • New nuts and screws added to playfield posts for fresh "day one" look, including new nylock nuts on plastics and posts.
  • Metal posts polished/shined including hex posts and standoff posts used throughout playfield.
  • Drop targets replaced with brand new factory NOS units (EIGHT total), including brand new drop target decals.
  • Game and display software upgraded with latest available factory versions.
  • Service bulletin upgrade part added- metal plate under plastic on left entrance to bike/ball lock area to prevent cracking/breakage of plastics.

Description
Playfield- overall view. Restoration complete and fully reassembled.
Playfield during restoration. Stripped, cleaned, polished, waxed, and re-assembly just starting. Still several full days of work to go before we're near completion!
Detail- lower playfield and flippers area. Note the new custom hard-laminated score and instruction cards- restores factory look and helps to preserve and protect for years to come.

The 1/18 scale motorcycle models mounted on the left and right slingshot bumpers are visible here. Both are brand new NOS pieces and mint condition. Slingshot bumper plastics that these models are mounted on are also factory NOS new replacements.
Detail- right side of playfield. Drop targets seen here are all brand new NOS parts, including new decals on each. There are 8 total (4 per side of playfield).

Entrance to main ramp is visible here. Plastic ramp has been disassembled, cleaned, and polished to restore original appearance. Red standup targets flanking the entrance to the ramp (4 total on this game) are brand new NOS replacment parts.
Detail- "FatBoy" bike model (1/10 scale), which is on a mechanism that raises up for the balls to go under during play. Lock 4 balls here for 4-ball multiball play.

Plastic piece to the left of the front of the bike has had a factory upgrade piece installed under it- a metal protective plate that prevents damage to the plastic from airborne pinballs (factory service bulletin recommended upgrade).

Note the working stoplight over the entrance to the up-kicker. Shoot the stoplight shot to collect your jacket "patch" after "riding" to each city during play.
Detail- bike model on left slingshot bumper. One of these is present on each of the two slingshot bumpers near the bottom of the playfield. Both bike models on this game are brand new NOS units. Highly-detailed 1/18 scale models.

Slingshot bumper plastics below the bikes are also new factory NOS original parts.
Overhead shot of upper portion of playfield. Orbit shot around the top, main ramp, stoplight & upkicker, ball lock (bike) and two of the four pop bumpers are all visible here. A lot going on up here in this game!

Playfield underside. The majority of the cleanliness of the playfield underside on this game is actually original- not cleaned or reconditioned by us! That's how nice this game was when we received it- indicative of a game that has had very little use/play and has been maintained better than most- a "low mileage" example.

Note all of the rebuilt assemblies such as flippers, slingshot bumpers, pop bumpers, up-kickers, ball trough, drop target mechanisms, up-post, and more. Note brand new flipper mechanical parts installed.

Description
Game overall view.
Cabinet- right side.
Left side of main cabinet.
Main cabinet front, coin door.
Backbox- front and right sides.
Backbox- left side.
Backglass front.
Cabinet interior. Cabinet has been completely stripped and cleaned out- free of dirt and dust- just like new when it came from the factory. Cabinet interior side-walls have been repainted with a coat of semi-gloss black enamel to restore original factory finish.
Backbox interior- circuit boards and electronics. All boards in this game are in excellent shape, and all very clean, with no signs of any past repair work and definitely no "hacks" or messed up wiring. Note new remote-mount battery kit installed, including quick-disconnect for easy board removal. Getting the batteries off the main MPU board eliminates the risk of damage from neglected/leaking batteries, which can destroy valuable expensive circuit boards. This precaution not only protects the MPU board but makes for easier replacement of the batteries, which are used to retain memory when power is off (high scores, settings, etc.)

Like all pinballs we sell, this machine also comes complete with instruction/operation manual and schematics, and fully functional coin door with all parts present and working. For our local customers, this game also includes
delivery, setup, and a full warranty on parts and labor, at no additional charge. For out-of-town customers, we offer our limited warranty.

For more details on our work on this particular game, see our restoration information page.
