TRIVIA: Indiana Jones was part of Williams' "SuperPin" line of widebody pinball games which were about 3 inches wider than standard pinball games, and could house more "toys" on the playfield. It was the first pinball game to use Williams' new high-definition DCS sound system. One of the jackpot awards during multiball mode is called "The Fish of Tayles" and is a reference to one of game designer Mark Ritchie's earlier games, Fish Tales.

Game Description:
We're proud to offer another classic Indiana Jones pinball machine! This game is one of our top 3 most most frequently-requested games of all time, requested by many pinball enthusiasts, collectors, and families alike. We aren't able to get Indiana Jones pinball machines in very often, due to their limited availability, and scarceity of finding one in good or better condition (most are very badly worn out), so this is truly a rare opportunity to acquire one from us that's in great shape and that has had our specialized restoration work, upgrades, and modifications done to it to make it look, work, and play just like it's brand new! Truly a landmark game from Williams Pinball.
You'd be hard-pressed to find another pinball machine that has this much fun and excitement packed into it! This classic and collectible pinball is the ultimate Indiana Jones Adventure! It has features from all three original blockbuster movies, and captures Indy's perilous exlpoits in 12 different gameplay modes (4 from each of the first 3 Indiana Jones movies) and 3 video modes (one from each movie)! So now, players can join their favorite professor of archaeology as he braves these treacherous paths on the road to high adventure.
Think you're good enough to beat the machine by completing all 12 modes? If so, you'll be rewarded handsomely and have the rare opportunity to play the Eternal Life mode- a frantic hair-raising, pulse-pounding "Wizard Mode" featuring 6-ball Multi-ball play! Not for the faint of heart! This mode is truly for those who flaunt the greatest of pinball skills! Truly a challenge indeed!
From the realistic gun shooter to re-creation of a biplane dog-fight, the Indiana Jones playfield challenges players to non-stop action, including 6-ball Multiball play!
 |
3 VIDEO MODES: Raven Bar, Mine Cart, and Choose Wisely invite players to test their skill levels as they join Indy in the search for the Ark of the Covenant, Sacred Sankara Stones and the Holy Grail- storylines from each of the first 3 blockbuster movies.
Not all modern pinballs feature a video mode- the few others that do only have one mode- Indiana Jones is the only game to feature THREE! |
|
Indiana Jones unveils a new find- and it's an industry first on any pinball machine! Only by spelling A-D-V-E-N-T-U-R-E by hitting targets on the playfield can players gain access to the innovative Path of Adventure- a player-controlled TILTING MINI-PLAYFIELD. It may be moved left or right through use of the flipper buttons, to guide the ball through it's obstacles. But players must navigate safely... the wrong tilt will tumble players into the Pit of Doom!

Nearby, the ominous rotating IDOL stands watch over the playfield and collects balls for Multi-ball play. Players shoot the Center Drop Targets and, futher along the road to riches, scramble to collect the Ark, Stones, and Grail Jackpots!
Indiana Jones features the DCS high-definition Digital Sound System. It's the pinball soundscape that eclipses everything that has come before! No other arcade or home game sound system can play back music, speech, and sound effects like Williams' DCS (Digital Compression System). This 4-track digital playback system now, for the first time, brings symphonic sound to the world of pinball! INDIANA JONES combines musical selections from all 3 movies and ties them together with an original theme for the pinball game; most sound effects in the game were taken from or based on actual movie sound effects.
This game is one of the most beautiful, fun, and challenging games ever designed by Williams Pinball, and even though the multitude of rules and modes on this game will be more than enough to keep you busy, the game play is fun and straightforward enough to be entertaining and fun for any players, regardless of skill and age. These are the true signs of a well-designed pinball, and we're sure after a game or two, you'll agree!
Game Condition Details:
NOTE: A large amount of detail/information is given below on the condition of this game, in regard to it's higher collectible value, and often-common multiple inquiries that we typically receive regarding intricate detail on "high end" popular games such as this one. Overall:
Over 60 hours have been invested in the excruciatingly-detailed restoration of this legendary classic Williams pinball game. It easily meets our criteria for a "Collector Condition" rating, which is our top rating for a used, reconditioned, restored game.
This game spent many of it's years being operated commercially, but was never operated in a smoky bar or exposed to food/drink, so was very well-preserved and made for a great candidate for one of our high-end restorations.
Cabinet and Backbox: The exterior on this game has been restored to new condition with the installation of all new artwork decals on the main cabinet and backbox. The original cabinet finish was actually preserved very well for a commercially-operated game, but had some signs of artwork fading (UV color fading) on some surfaces, and some nicks and dings that needed some attention. As an "A List" game, we decided it deserved to have it's cabinet fully restored to all it's glory with the installation of new cabinet decals.
The main cabinet interior sidewalls, main cabinet rear panel, and the front "bezel" or "frame" around the backglass and speaker panel have all been refinished and repainted with original style semi-gloss black enamel to restore a clean original factory look. All of the black carriage bolts on the exterior of the game have also been removed, refinished, repainted, and reinstalled, to reflect an original, new "factory" look.
All circuit boards inside the backbox have been inspected to ensure good healthy condition, and show no obvious signs of damage or past repair work, and have no burned, scorched, or overheated connectors, as is often common in many used games that have been run hard 24/7 for many years. This game's components are all still very healthy and fresh-looking. The dot-matrix score display driver has been replaced with a new PinLED driver board which has been redesigned to improve on factory design and features adjustable voltage settings for optimum display performance and lifetime preservation over a range of incoming line voltages- a great upgrade that adds performance and reliability. ROM chips on the MPU board and sound board have been upgraded to the latest revisions that include the latest bug-fixes and enhancements.
Power supply circuitry on the power/driver board has been upgraded with several new heavy-duty components for long life and reliability, and all fuses on all boards have been inspected to ensure proper types and values for proper operation and protection of the game's electronics.
Cabinet hardware (carriage bolts, screws, brackets, etc) was removed during the restoration and cleaned, and refinished or repainted for original appearance, before being reinstalled. New white nylon cabinet gliders have been installed on the back of the main cabinet to restore a factory-original appearance.
Coin door on this game is a brand new NOS original, replacing the original door which had been drilled for the addition of a security hasp for commercial operation. So all of the hardware and parts on this door are factory brand-new and impeccably clean- inside and out!
The gun handle on the front of the game- used for shooting the ball into play- was professionally re-chromed by a custom plating shop and again shows a factory "day one" look to it. The original brass legs on this game showed some wear and tarnishing of the original factory gold/brass plating, so these were also custom re-plated in the original gold/brass color and actually done in a much higher quality than the original factory method, so are much brighter and smoother than originals- they are utterly gorgeous. New leg levelers, brass leg bolts, and leg protector pads were installed as well. The new leg protector pads help to protect the cabinet finish against wear/tear from the metal legs- a nice finishing touch to this high-end restoration.
Backglass on this game (mylar translite behind clear tempered glass) is in mint condition- a brand new replacement that we installed during the restoration of this classic game. So it has no flaws, blemishes, scratches, etc. Absolutely gorgeous in every way. Backglass (glass in front of translite) and black plastic trim/molding pieces around the edge have all been fully cleaned and reassembled.
The display/speaker panel below the backglass features a brand new plexiglass cover on it and a brand new score display.
Playfield on this game is in overall excellent condition from top to bottom, showing very few signs of previous use, and no "wear spots" in the artwork finish that many popular used games often show- very well preserved from top to bottom. Playfield has been stripped of all parts- right down to the bare "wood and paint", cleaned, polished, waxed, and detailed, to restore it's finish. One very small spot above the right flipper (on Indy's left-hand shirt collar) was starting to show some wear from past use, but a brand new decal was installed over this area to restore it's original look, and protective Mylar applied over the top of the entire area above the flippers for added protection in the future.
Openings around holes used for light bulbs, switches, and other mechanisms, were all cleaned up to remove dust and grime and once again show a natural clean wood finish- just like when the game was brand new. No hidden dust and dirt on this playfield- every square inch was fully cleaned and restored.
All of the plastics on the playfield on this game are in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or unsightly wear spots or other damage. Several worn or otherwise damaged plastics were replaced during the restoration with brand new pieces, including the hard-to-find Raise Jackpot plastic behind the center drop targets, the slingshot bumper plastics, front plastic under the right ramp, and Mode Start hole plastic. The Idol "ruins" molded plastic pieces that surround the Idol ball lock on the right side of the playfield are original and in excellent condition showing no cracks, breaks, or other damage. These ruin plastics have been fully cleaned- top and bottom sides- and appear fresh and new again. All plastics on the playfield have been cleaned- top and bottom sides- and installed and secured with brand new nylock nuts to restore an original "day one" factory look.
The gold/brass wireform ball ramps (or "habitrails") on this game had some signs of wear and tarnishing from years of use and neglect, so we had these professionally stripped and refinished by a local metal plating shop and re-plated in the original gold/brass finish- they are now absolutely gorgeous and look like they were just installed on the factory assembly line.
All mechanisms on the playfield (including kickers, bumpers, flippers, and more) have all been removed, painstakingly overhauled and reconditioned/restored to new condition, reinstalled and adjusted for proper functionality, good looks, and reliable operation.
Here is a detailed list of work that has been done on this game, followed by more details on parts and game modifications:

 | Playfield overall view. |
 | Playfield during restoration. Stripped-down, with reassembly just starting. Many more days of work to go from here! |
 | Detail- lower playfield area, score card holder, flippers. |
 | Detail- lower playfield area- flippers, slingshot bumpers area. Slingshot bumper plastics are brand new, and have protective fender washers installed under top and bottom edges to protect against damage from airborne pinballs. And are completed with brand new shiny nylock nuts to keep them in place. Note the restored finish on the brass switches on the slingshot bumpers.
Note the brand new white NOS Williams flipper bats- complete with correct "W" logo. These were discontinued in 1999 and impossible to find from dealers anymore, but we've saved a few sets for very special restorations such as this.
Also note the newly-replated brass wireform ramp feeding the left flipper return lane (one of 3 "brass" ramps that were replated as part of the restoration.) |
 | Detail- shot across lower section of playfield to the right side. "Ruins" and rotating Idol Head ball lock seen here. Idol has a brand new NOS "rotor lock", which is the yellow plastic "gate" in front of the Idol that keeps the balls locked in the Idol head (commonly broken part on most Indiana Jones games). Freshly re-plated brass wireform ramp returns balls from the right ramp to the right flipper.
"Ruins" plastics on this game are original and in great shape, showing no cracks, breaks, or other damage from past use. All have been fully cleaned inside and out to restore their original look. And completed with brand new retaining hardware (hex head nuts and washers). |
 | Detail- shot across lower section of playfield to the left side. Exit from upper mini playfield is seen here, as are two of the newly-replated brass wireform ball ramps. The 'Mode Start' kickout hole sits just under the mini playfield. Left ramp entrance is just to the right of the Mode Start hole, and like all ramps on this game, is fully reconditioned including new ramp entrance flap retainer screws to hold it to the playfield.
Note brand new drop target decals installed on the targets at right- 3-bank of targets in the center of playfield, and a single target in the top right corner of playfield. |
 | Detail- center of playfield. Biplane and center drop targets area. The plastic just behind the drop targets is brand new- hard-to-find "Raise the Jackpot" plastic. This piece is a reproduction made by Alan Meyer years ago (now discontinued) and is silkscreen printed just like original, but made with slightly thicker, more durable plastic, to help resist damage from airborne pinballs. |
 | Detail- shot across center of playfield to upper right corner. The airplane "dogfight" is seen here, with Indy's biplane mounted in the center of playfield and the fighter plane in chase, over the right ramp. Red LEDs are mounted under the fighter's wings and blink on/off during the dogfight.
The plastic under the front of the right ramp has been replaced with a brand new piece. This piece is commonly cracked or broken off on the left edge (closest to pop bumpers) from airborne pinballs striking it. New piece is a high quality reproduction made with thicker, stronger plastic than originals, made to resist damage. |
 | Detail- upper left playfield area. Featuring tilting mini-playfield, left ramp, top "I-N-D-Y" rollover lanes, and pop bumpers area. Aside from being fully rebuilt, each pop bumper also has had a new white plastic body installed, and each one adjusted for maximum performance. |
 | Detail- upper right corner area. Ramp diverter atop the right ramp is seen here- sending balls either back to the right flipper, or over the "Rope Bridge" to the tilting mini-playfield. A brand new captive ball sits behind the single drop target to the right of the pop bumper area, and has been fully rebuilt including light lubrication of the target itself and a brand new target decal. Also note the newly-replated brass wireform ball ramps. |
 | Under-playfield view- flippers area. Note the extreme cleanliness of even the underside of the playfield as well as all the components. A full restoration was done underneath, as well, with parts removed from the playfield, wood cleaned and refinished, and everything overhauled and reconditioned/rebuilt before being reinstalled.
Flippers have been fully rebuilt with brand new mechanical and electrical parts, including new flipper coils, flipper bats/shafts, flipper bushings, nuts, screws, and more.
Ball trough has had it's opto PC boards upgraded to use the later-model design which features vibration-absorbing rubber mounting grommets and metal sleeves around the mounting screws. This helps avoid damage to the electronic components from vibration from balls landing in and rolling through the trough (common problem on early games that used opto ball troughs- Indiana Jones was the first game to use them). |
 | Under-playfield view- mid-playfield area. All lamp, motor-control, drop target, and opto driver PC boards mounted under the playfield have been removed, cleaned with solution (top and bottom sides), and had extra fresh solder reflowed on all of their connector pins to add reliability and repair hairline cracks that develop from vibration from normal game play over the years (common problem in all late-model games that causes intermittent operation of PC boards).
All coils (solenoids) have been cleaned, replaced where necessary, and have new nylon coil sleeves installed in them to maximize strength and performance.
Idol Head motor assembly has been fully removed and overhauled, including mandatory cleaning of all the optos inside the assembly. These "see" the position of the Idol Head ball lock unit and tell the game how to control the locked balls. These optos are probably the ones that get the dirtiest in this game from normal use, and are very hard to get to, so typically never get cleaned or serviced by most pinball repair persons/shops. All have been fully cleaned and overhauled during our full restoration for added reliability and performance for many many years. |
 | Under-playfield view- Mode Start kickout mechanism and center drop target bank area. Both drop target assemblies on this game have been fully removed, torn down into all individual components, and everything cleaned or replaced where necessary, and rebuilt, including light white lithium lubricant applied to each drop target for proper operation and reliability. A 2-pin connector has been added to the wires for the coil on the center drop target bank to allow it to easily be removed/installed for future service/maintenance, if needed.
Note the under-playfield metal ramp that takes balls from the hole behind the drop targets and over to the Idol Head ball lock mechanism (located behind drop target assembly). This ramp was also removed from the game during restoration and fully overhauled and cleaned and reinstalled. Cleanliness of this ramp and perfect operation of it's parts are vital to balls being moved properly through it and regulated out to the Idol Head lock mechanism. It can be a common source of problems and stuck balls in games where it is in disrepair or not properly overhauled during a service.

 | Backbox interior. All circuit boards in this game are in great condition and very fresh-appearing, with no obvious signs of past poor repairs or damage. Power supply components and connectors have been upgraded to heavy-duty components for added reliability and performance for years to come. Vital connector pins on all the boards have been coated with an anti-oxidant compound to improve electrical connections and avoid oxidation issues that can cause intermittent operation.
Note the brand new PinLED display driver board. This aftermarket unit has many enhancements that exceed the original Williams-designed board, incuding configurable power settings for adjustment at different line voltages.
Game ROM and sound ROM software have been upgraded to the latest releases. Note the remote-mount battery kit for the MPU board memory backup- batteries are safely located off-board to prevent corrosion damage to the board should they go neglected and leak. And much easier to change- battery kit uses 3 "AA" batteries. We recommend changing every 2 years, with power on to avoid loss of memory (high scores, adjustment settings, etc.)
All fuses on all boards have been checked for proper value and replaced where necessary for maximum protection of valuable circuit boards and components.
Dot matrix score display has been replaced with a brand new fresh unit. |
 | Rear of game. Back of main cabinet has been fully refinished and repainted in original semi-gloss black enamel, retaining original factory stamps and decals. Note new white nylon gliders installed on "skids" on back of main cabinet. Line cord cover repainted. |

Note brand new hard-laminated tech chart installed on left interior side-wall. Also note the reconditioned lockdown bar latch, featuring new "caution high voltage" and "install 6 balls" decals. Brass adjustment screws on latch bar have also been reconditioned and appear "like new" again. All wiring harnesses and other hardware parts fully removed and completely cleaned as part of restoration. |
