Game Description:
Lost World is one of the classic-style pinball games produced by Bally during the height of solid-state pinball popularity in the late 1970's and early 1980's. This game features lots of intricate artwork and colors with a "fantasy" theme, and was so popular that it actually spawned a sequel game- Paragon- which was released by Bally a year later.
Lost World was also a landmark game for Bally which featured three Bally "pinball firsts":
First game to feature the 2nd generation "dash 35" MPU board.
First game to feature electronic sounds and tunes during play.
First game to feature a "four color" process for printing of the backglass artwork. This allowed for an infinite palette of colors that could be used and gave a life-like and highly detailed appearance to the backglass artwork.
Most Lost World games often got heavy play out in the arcades due to their popularity, and it's very difficult to find one that's still in really good condition. We're proud to offer this low-mileage classic Lost World game- reconditioned and overhauled for great looks, fast fun play, and reliability- and sure to entertain for many more years to come!
Solenoid/regulator board has had a new C23 filter capacitor kit installed to smooth-out power and make it healthy and reliable again. This avoids common "old age" symptoms that "as-is" games have, such as going dead during play, or not starting up at all. MPU board has had a new remote-mount memory-backup battery kit installed, with quick-disconnect connector. This relocates and converts the batteries from the original on-board mounting position, to an off-board location, with easy-to-replace standard alkaline batteries, and protects the valuable board against battery leakage damage which can occur should the batteries go neglected for a long period of time (a common cause of major problems in many old and new electronic pinball games).
Power supply board has been overhauled with new connector pin headers and housings installed to replace worn and overheated original connectors, where required. New fuse clips have been installed for the general illumination lighting fuse (commonly overheated/burned in most used games). And all three power rectifiers have been replaced with brand new units for added reliability and longevity. Even the rectifier diodes for the display power have been replaced with new parts, to help give trouble-free operation for many more years to come.
All score display units in this game are original and in fantastic condition with no signs of "burn in", mottling, or flickering. All have been removed and have had solder reflowed on their connector pins to avoid intermittent operation problems. All connector pins have had DeoxIt anti-oxidant compound applied to them, which both protects against oxidation and intermittent connection failures, as well as lubricates the connector pins to reduce stress and strain on the connectors and PC boards when connectors are removed/installed for service.
Main Cabinet: Main cabinet is in very good condition all around. A few chips and scratches were present here and there when we acquired this game, most of which have been touched-up during the overhaul. The back of the main cabinet has been fully repainted in matching yellow enamel, and new white nylon gliders installed to replace worn original gliders. A new 3-prong grounded line cord end has been installed on the power cord for added safety as well. New leg protector pads have been installed under each leg to help protect against wear/tear on the cabinet. Legs have been fully cleaned and have new leg levelers and nuts installed. Cabinet interior has been fully cleaned out along with all internal components and wiring as well.
Coin door has been fully removed, disassembled into all individual parts, all parts cleaned and restored, and reassembled for like-new look and operation. Door includes fully functional 25¢ coin mechanisms, so game can be operated by coins, if desired (game can also be run on "free play" as well).
List of New Parts on This Game:
A lot of large and small parts are typically replaced anytime a game is reconditioned like this one, and this list may not reflect all of the actual parts used in the process, so should be considered an incomplete or "partial" list. Shipping/freight costs for obtaining many of the parts listed below may also not be included, so would be considered additional costs invested.
$2.50 value: New disc capacitors added to all necessary switches on playfield to replace aging/troublesome originals (pop bumpers, standup targets, rollover button).
$18.87 value: New light bulbs installed throughout game, as required.
$2.37 value: New LED bulbs installed in pop bumpers to extend life and avoid failure from high vibration.
Playfield- overall view. Overhaul complete and fully reassembled.
Playfield- during restoration. Playfield stripped of parts/components, cleaned, polished. Reassembly beginning.
Detail- lower playfield and score card holder ("apron") area. Apron is in excellent condition and brand new score and instruction cards have been installed.
Detail- lower playfield/flippers area. Flippers have been fully rebuilt with new parts. New white flipper bats have been installed- these are modern one-piece units with built-in metal shaft that goes down through the playfield to the mechanism underneath- much better design than original parts.
All-new rubber rings and bumpers have been installed on this game. Note also the new white rubber "cap nuts" installed to hold down the flat plastic pieces throughout the playfield- a nice finishing touch.
Detail- left side of playfield. All red "standup" targets have had new disc capacitors installed on them, under the playfield. This helps the computer detect fast ball hits on them so that points are awarded properly. Old original caps often fail and cause switches to not work, or work sluggishly. All have been replaced on this game for added reliability and longevity (including those on pop bumpers and rollover star button).
Detail- right side of playfield. "Captive ball" seen here. The main ball hits the captive (or "messenger") ball, and sends it up to hit the target at the top of the captive ball lane.
Detail- upper portion of playfield. Pop bumper caps on this game are brand new with no scratches, chips, or burns from old light bulbs (lamps). We've replaced the original incandenscent lamps inside the bumpers with modern LED bulbs which produce virtually no heat, and hold up under constant vibration from the bumpers (common cause of premature light bulb failure with standard bulbs). A nice upgrade!

Description
Game overall view.
Cabinet- left side. A few small nicks/scratches were present on the cabinet sides, most of which were touched-up during the overhaul (the camera actually makes things look a little better than in person...) Metal cabinet side-rails and front lockdown bar have been cleaned/polished for a nice clean, smooth finish.
Cabinet- right side. Legs have brand new heavy-duty leg levelers & nuts installed, and brand new leg protector pads which help keep scuffs and scratches off the cabinet where the legs mount- a nice finishing touch!
Backbox- left & front sides. Front "surround" on the backbox has been repainted in matching yellow enamel for a fresh, clean look. Some minor touch-up has been done on the sides to fix some minor chips/scratches from past use. Top and back of backbox have also been repainted in matching yellow enamel.
Backbox- right side. Some light touch-up has been done to repair a few scratches/scuffs on the right side as well.
Main cabinet- front, and coin door. Coin door has been fully removed, disassembled into all individual parts, all parts cleaned and repainted where necessary, and reassembled. Door once again has a like-new look and is clean inside and out. Door has fully working 25¢ coin mechanisms, so game can be run on coins if desired (can also be run on "free play"). A new lock and keys have been installed.
Some light touch-up has been done to the paint on the front of the game to fix up various nicks, scratches, and scuffs from past use. Ball shooter has been fully cleaned up and rebuilt. Note the new leg protector pads installed under the legs to help protect the cabinet finish.
Backbox- front view. Backglass on this game is original and in virtually mint condition with no scratches, chips, scuffs, or other damage to the original artwork printed on the back of the glass.
Backbox insert panel. Score display units are all original to this game, with no signs of burning or flicker, and all digits/segments work great!
Backbox interior. All circuit boards have been removed and had solder reflowed on the backs of all connector pins. This repairs cracks in the original solder joints caused by old age/vibrations, which can cause intermittent connections and operation failures. All connector pins have also had DeoxIt anti-oxidant compound applied to them which not only helps prevent oxidation problems that cause bad connections, but lubricates the connector pins and makes removal/installation of connectors much easier, and helps cut down on stress/strain on connectors and the PC boards themselves.
Note new remote-mount memory backup battery kit that has been installed for the MPU board. Remote kit gets the batteries off the valuable MPU board so that they won't damage the board if they go neglected and leak. Some very minor superficial battery damage is present on the original MPU board in this game, but it has not damaged any components and board functions 100%.
Solenoid/regulator board in upper right corner has had a new C23 filter capacitor kit installed for more healthy, reliable power. Two modifications/upgrades have also been done to the board to remedy some factory "weaknesses" in design which allow the board to function better and more reliably. Power supply (lower right corner) has had all new rectifiers and rectifier diodes installed as well as connectors replaced to restore health and good operation to it, and provide reliable use for years to come.
All of this work helps improve the health of the circuit boards and power supply circuits and helps eliminate common issues that many of these games have when they are original/untouched, including mid-game reset issues, game "lock ups", and "won't start up" syndrome. Most original/untouched Bally games will suffer from these symptoms, but the new parts and modifications we do as part of our overhaul on these classic games helps eliminate these pesky issues.
Like most pinballs we sell, this machine also comes complete with instruction/operation manual and schematics, and functional coin door. For our local customers, this game also includes delivery, setup, and a full warranty on parts and labor, at no additional charge. For out-of-town customers, we offer our limited warranty.
