Game Description:

Lucky Seven is one of the first electronic (solid state) pinball games produced by Williams, and combines the look, play, and feel of classic vintage pinball with the reliability of solid-state operation. We're proud to offer this classic Lucky Seven game- reconditioned and overhauled for great looks, fast fun play, and reliability- and sure to entertain for many more years to come!

Designed with a popular "casino" theme, Lucky Seven combines great artwork, colors, sounds, and playfield gadgets to bring you fast and fun pinball excitement! This game features two flippers, two drop targets, two fast-action bumpers, a spinner target, and unique "slot machine reels" under the playfield that turn when the ball hits targets- try to line them all up for big points and awards!

All of these features combine to offer fast, fun play that will take you back to the bowling alleys and arcades of years past. Great colors and classic Williams pinball artwork adorn the playfield and backglass and really make for a great, fun, pinball experience- for beginners and experts alike. Enough to really challenge the best of players, but still straightforward enough, and fun, for novice and "newbie" players, too. After a game or two, we think you'll agree!

Game Condition:

Playfield: Playfield on this game is in overall very good condition and has a very nice-looking, attractive appearance. Playfield has been fully cleaned and polished and has a great look to it. There are no major "wear spots" anywhere on the playfield, however some very minor signs of wear/tear from past normal use are of course still present on this original playfield, as is common on any older, vintage pinball. These include some minor signs of wear/tear around some light inserts, or "lenses", around edges of the plastic cover over the slot machine reels in center of playfield, and some ball or 'swirl' marks here and there on the playfield from normal use (see images below). All very minimal, and indicative of less-than-average use over the years- really a well-preserved playfield for a vintage game.

All plastic pieces, or "light shields" are present and none have any defects such as chips, cracks, or breaks- all in excellent condition. Pop bumper caps are original to this game and in excellent shape. All rubber rings have been replaced with brand new rings and make for fast, fun play.

Burned-out light bulbs have been replaced. Bumpers have been tuned and adjusted for quick response and fast play, and have had new LED bulbs installed in them for added reliability. Flippers have been fully rebuilt with brand new parts including coil plungers and links, end-of-stroke switches, coil stops, and coil sleeves. Flippers have been tuned and adjusted for maximum performance and reliability. Drop targets on this game have been rebuilt, including removal of parts, cleaning, reinstallation, and adjustments for proper operation. Original drop targets on these games were very problematic- mostly due to problems with switch contacts getting dirty/oxidized, etc. We've avoided this common problem by not only fully reconditioning the target units, but also by installing
DeoxIt anti-oxidant compound on target PC boards and contact points to make them more reliable and to provide trouble-free operation.

Overall, the playfield on this game is in very nice condition and attractive with no major signs of wear/tear, neglect, or damage. Very well-preserved- we would rate it as above-average condition for a game of it's age and popularity.

Backbox: Backbox on this game is in very good condition overall, having had only a few small scuffs and scratches on the sides and corners, most of which have been touched-up to be less conspicuous. Front surround, top, and back of the backbox have all been repainted with matching yellow enamel paint for a clean, fresh appearance. Backglass is original to this game and is in very good overall condition. Glass has a few of the common nicks and scuffs on the back side from normal use/handling over the years, but nothing unusual or unsightly. There is no flaking or lifting of ink on the back of the glass, as is common on some older games.

All circuit boards in backbox have been removed and overhauled for proper operation. All boards have had the solder reflowed on all connector pins to eliminate any hairline cracks from old age and vibration, which are a common source of intermittent problems in many electronic pinball games such as this one. All connector pins on all circuit boards in the backbox have had DeoxIt anti-oxidant compound applied to them, which both protects against oxidation and intermittent connection failures, as well as lubricates the connector pins to reduce stress and strain on the connectors and boards when connectors are removed/installed for service. Power supply has had a new 5-volt filter capacitor installed to smooth-out power and make it healthy and reliable again. MPU board has been modified & upgraded and has brand new ROM chips installed for added reliability. A new remote-mount memory-backup battery kit has been installed, with quick-disconnect connector. This relocates the batteries from the original on-board mounting position, to an off-board location, and protects the valuable board against battery leakage damage which can occur should the batteries go neglected for a long period of time (a common cause of major problems in many electronic pinball games). Driver board has had brand new upgraded ceramic resistors installed for the lamp matrix power resistors, replacing the original 2-watt units with cooler 5-watt resistors, which reduces heat output and extends circuit board component life.

Score displays are all in great condition with no flickering numbers, missing digits, or any other problems- all bright and vibrant.

Main Cabinet: Main cabinet is in very good condition all around. A few chips and scratches were present when we acquired this game, most of which have been touched-up during the overhaul, however some signs of past handling/use are still present on this previously-owned vintage game. The back of the main cabinet has been fully repainted in matching yellow enamel, and new white nylon gliders installed to replace worn original gliders. New leg protector pads have been installed under each leg to help protect against wear/tear on the cabinet. Legs have been fully cleaned and have new leg levelers and nuts installed. Cabinet interior has been fully cleaned out, and all wiring and components inside have also been cleaned.

Coin door has been fully removed, disassembled, all parts cleaned and restored, and reassembled for like-new look and operation. Door includes fully functional 25¢ coin mechanisms, so game can be operated by coins, if desired (game can also be set up for "free play" as well).

Custom Modifications:
  • Remote-mount battery holder for MPU board added in backbox. Includes quick-disconnect for easy MPU board removal from the game, if ever needed.
  • Brand new ROM chips installed with latest software revision.
  • New upgrade power resistors installed for lamp matrix circuitry on driver board to run cooler and last longer.
  • New heavy-duty filter capacitor installed on power supply board for healthier and more reliable 5-volt power.
  • New set of cabinet leg protector pads added under legs to protect game finish from unnecessary scatches and scrapes.

Playfield- overall view. Overhaul complete and fully reassembled.
Detail- lower playfield and score card holder ("apron") area. Apron is in great condition and brand new score and instruction cards have been installed.
Detail- center playfield - slot machine reels. This unique game features three working reels which are activated by hitting the yellow targets above them, or when the ball goes through the top rollover lanes. Line up the reels and knock down the left & right drop targets to collect the reel value- anything from points to extra ball to a replay!
Detail- upper playfield area. Brand new white rollover lane guides have been installed at the top of the playfield. Pop bumpers have also had new LED bulbs installed in them which hold up against the vibrations of the bumper, and last indefinitely compared to original incandescent lamps.

Note the brand new white nylon cap nuts that have been installed on the plastics to keep them in place- a nice finishing touch!
Detail- upper left corner of playfield.
Under-playfield view. Flippers have been rebuilt with new mechanical parts, and play just like brand new! All light bulbs and bulb "lenses" have been cleaned by hand. A very clean game- inside and out!

Description
Game overall view.
Cabinet- left side. Some small nicks/scratches were present on the cabinet sides, most of which were touched-up during the overhaul. Some signs of past use are still visible on this previously-owned game.

Metal cabinet side-rails and front lockdown bar have been cleaned/polished for a nice clean, smooth finish. Flipper buttons have been removed, disassembled, cleaned, and reinstalled. Note new cabinet leg protector pads installed behind legs.
Closeup of front edge of left cabinet side.
Cabinet- right side. Some nicks/scratches from past use are/were also present on this side of cabinet, most of which have been touched up so they are not obvious. Some signs of past use are still present.
Closeup of front edge of right cabinet side.
Main cabinet- front, and coin door. Coin door has been fully removed, disassembled into all individual parts, all parts cleaned and repainted where necessary, and reassembled. "QUARTERS" coin door tags are original and in great shape with no cracks or breaks. Door once again has a like-new look and is clean inside and out. Door has fully working 25¢ coin mechanisms, so game can be run on coins if desired (can also be set up for "free play"). A new lock and keys have been installed.

Some small nicks, scratches, and scuffs are/were present on the surrounding area of the cabinet front, most of which were touched-up during the reconditioning so they are not as obvious. Some signs of past use are still present on this previously-used game.
Coin door interior. Note how clean the inside of the door is after all the overhaul work.
Main cabinet interior- shot of scoring chimes and tilt mech. panel. Interior has been fully cleaned and washed out, removing any dust and debris from past use. All wiring and parts inside cabinet have been cleaned up as well. Lockdown bar latch at front of cabinet has been removed, cleaned, and repainted for fresh clean look. Game manual and schematics (wiring diagrams) included with game (not pictured).

Scoring "chime" mechanisms have also been fully reconditioned, including full cleaning and replacement of insulating grommets under the chimes so they have a nice "ring" to them when activated- not the common "thunk-thunk" sound that so many vintage games have from wear and tear- a nice finishing touch!
Backbox- left & front sides. Front "surround" on the backbox has been repainted in matching yellow gloss enamel for a fresh, clean look. Some minor touch-up has been done on the sides to fix some minor chips/scratches from past use. Top and back of backbox have also been repainted in matching yellow enamel.
Backbox- right side. Some light touch-up has been done to repair a few scratches/scuffs on the right side, and a brand new lock & key has also been installed for the backbox.
Back side of game. Rear of both backbox and cabinet have been reconditioned and repainted in matching yellow enamel paint. "Neck" that supports backbox has been repainted in semi-gloss black to match original design.

Brand new white nylon gliders have been installed on cabinet back to replace worn originals. And new leg protector pads have been installed behind all legs to protect cabinet finish.
Backbox insert panel. All light bulbs have been cleaned or replaced as required. New blinking #455 bulbs have been installed along top of panel, to add some lighting animation to the game's title on the backglass.

All score displays are in great condition with no burned-out or missing digits, and work great with no flickering or other problems present.
Backbox interior. All circuit boards have been removed and had solder reflowed on the backs of all connector pins. This repairs cracks in the original solder joints which can cause intermittent connections and operation failures. All connector pins have also had DeoxIt anti-oxidant compound applied to them which not only helps prevent oxidation problems that cause bad connections, but lubricates the connector pins and makes removal/installation of connectors much easier, and helps cut down on stress/strain on connectors and the PC boards themselves.

MPU board has been upgraded to use new replacement ROM chips, replacing the troublesome original PROM chips, which adds to the reliability of this reconditioned game. Note new remote-mount memory backup battery kit that has been installed for the MPU board. Remote kit gets the batteries off the valuable MPU board so that they won't damage the board if they go neglected and leak.

Power supply board has had a new power filter capacitor installed for more healthy, reliable power. Driver board has had new ceramic power resistors installed for lamp driver circuits, which reduces heat output and stress on the circuit board. All fuses have been checked for proper values and replaced as necessary.

All of this work helps improve the health of the circuit boards and power supply circuits and helps eliminate common issues that many of these games have when they are original/untouched, including mid-game reset issues and game "lock ups". Most original/untouched Williams games will suffer from these symptoms, but the new parts and modifications we do as part of our overhaul on these classic games helps eliminate these pesky issues.
