TRIVIA: Space Shuttle was produced as both a complete/dedicated game, and as a conversion kit which could be used to change another Bally or Williams game into a Space Shuttle game. (The game shown below is an original dedicated Space Shuttle game.)

Game Description:
Space Shuttle takes you on a pinball journey that's out of this world! This is the game that essentially put Williams Pinball back on the map in the mid 1980's after pinball hit a slump in popularity. Space Shuttle brought players back with wild 3-ball Multiball action, lots of fun gadgets on the playfield, great shots including two ramp shots, and great sound and lighting effects. The popularity of Space Shuttle even spawned a sequel game a few years later- Space Station.
One of the more popular games of the decade, Space Shuttle often got heavy play out in the arcades and it's very difficult to find a Space Shuttle game that's still in really good condition. We're proud to offer this classic Space Shuttle game- reconditioned and overhauled for maximum playability and reliability- and sure to entertain for many more years to come!
Complete S-H-U-T-T-L-E targets to collect a random score award. Shoot the center 'T' drop target last for an additional 100,000 bonus! Shooting the center ramp shot awards the rolling score shown on the score displays- time it just right for maximum points! A ball-saver "up post" between the flippers is activated by center ramp shots- shoot the ramp to pop the post up and protect yourself against balls lost down the middle! Shoot the left and right saucer shots to lock balls for wild 3-ball Multiball play! Three fast pop bumpers, several drop targets, spinner target, and a ball-saver gate in the right outlane all keep the action going!
Great colors and classic Williams artwork adorn the playfield and backglass and really make for a great, fun, pinball experience- for beginners and experts alike. Enough to really challenge the best of players, but still straightforward enough, and fun, for novice and "newbie" players alike. After a game or two, we think you'll agree!
All targets have received brand new target decals, including the round "bullseye" standup targets, spinner target, and drop targets.
The plastic ramp on this game is original and is in very good condition. One small crack near the left entrance was repaired with some Mylar. The Space Shuttle "ship" atop the ramp is also original and in good shape. It has had a few repairs done to it in the past to repair some stress cracks in the plastic but appears great and the switch inside it that detects balls coming up the ramp works fine.
Screened plastic pieces (or "light covers") are in good shape with no broken corners, etc. All pieces have been removed and cleaned/polished during the overhaul. A few pieces had some stains from what looked like an abrasive cleaner that may have been used at some point in the past. We did our best to buff/polish these pieces to try to get rid of the marks that the old cleaner left behind, but some areas still show some marks upon close inspection.
Backbox: Backbox on this game is in great shape, having had only a few small dings and chips on the front and back top corners of the backbox sides, which have been touched-up to be less conspicuous. Front surround has been repainted with matching blue paint for a fresh appearance.
Insert panel behind glass has been fully cleaned and new light bulbs installed as required. Interior of backbox has been cleaned out and circuit boards checked/tested for proper operation. Score displays are all fully functional and great looking with no burned-out or missing digits, etc. All look and work great.
Main Cabinet: Main cabinet is in very good condition all around. Only a few tiny scratches and chips were present on the sides and front of the cabinet, most of which were touched-up during the overhaul. New leg protector pads have been installed under each leg to help protect against wear/tear on the cabinet.
Here is a detailed list of work that has been done on this game, followed by more details on condition:
We have invested just over 40 hours in the reconditioning of this game.
Playfield top and bottom surfaces stripped of parts and assemblies for proper cleaning- right down to the bare wood and paint. Playfield surface thoroughly cleaned and polished.
All playfield parts have been removed and hand cleaned, or replaced with brand new parts where necessary. This includes light bulbs, posts, ramps, wireform ball guides, flipper assemblies, under-playfield ramps, target banks, bumper assemblies, ball trough and associated parts, and any other parts that are installed on the playfield.
All metal parts removed from playfield have been hand cleaned and polished for original bright shiny finish.
Stainless steel ball guides refinished using our own in-house proprietary process. This removes the ugly "ball marks" from the stainless steel "rails" or "guides" that are found all over the playfield and on sides of lanes. Our process removes the marks and leaves a "like new" finish and look on these rails to restore their "day one" new look.
Molded plastic ramp assembly has been completely removed and fully cleaned and overhauled.
All targets have has new decals installed, including round "bullseye" targets, spinner target, and drop targets.
All three pop bumper assemblies on this game were removed, 100% disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, and adjusted for optimum performance. Worn parts replaced with new where required.
Flipper assemblies completely removed, 100% disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt with brand new factory-original parts, and reassembled. Flippers tuned and adjusted.
All light bulbs on top and bottom of playfield, and elsewhere in game, removed, cleaned, and replaced. Brand new light bulbs used as replacements for old worn, discolored, or burned out bulbs and flasher bulbs.
All light bulb inserts (or "lenses") in playfield surface were cleaned for maximum shine and light penetration.
Brand new chrome steel pinballs installed in game (game uses THREE total).
Playfield flat plastics (screened artwork) all removed, cleaned, polished, and replaced.
Score and instruction cards have both been reproduced for clean clear looks, and hard-laminated for durability, and to prevent against damage in the future- these look great!
Both slingshot bumper assemblies have had their detector switches removed and hand-cleaned with tarnish remover to restore finish. Kicker mechanisms also fully removed, cleaned, and rebuilt.
Inside and outside of main cabinet and backbox completely stripped of parts, cleaned, parts individually hand cleaned, and reassembled.
Cabinet interior side-walls repainted with fresh coat of semi-gloss blue enamel paint for fresh clean factory appearance.
Coin door removed and reconditioned, including full tear-down of all parts for cleaning. All parts (including wiring harness and switches) individually cleaned and detailed by hand and reassembled.
Playfield glass lockdown bar cleaned, and a new foam rubber seal has been installed on the underside.
Leg bolts cleaned and polished to restore original look.
Brand new cabinet leg protector pads installed under legs for added good looks and protection against wear/tear to the cabinet corners.
All electronics (PC boards) in backbox checked and tested for proper operation and good looks. Fuses all removed, checked, and proper values verified- replaced where necessary.
Remote-mount battery holder installed for MPU board in backbox. This prevents damage to the valuable MPU board from accidental battery discharge or leakage, which can destroy the board. Batteries are now mounted off-board and risk of damage is eliminated. Brand new fresh batteries installed.
Playfield glass replaced with brand new scratch-free sheet of tempered safety glass.
New nuts and screws added to playfield posts and other playfield parts for fresh "day one" look, including new screws and nylon cap nuts on plastics and posts.
Metal posts polished/shined including hex posts and standoff posts used throughout playfield.
Partial List of New Parts on This Game: NOTE: ("NOS" means "New Old Stock", and indicates a part that is of original manufacture, new (never used), and authentic (not a reproduction, look-alike, or "aftermarket" part). Most "NOS" parts are discontinued and no longer available from the manufacturer, and can consequently be very hard to find, or expensive if they can be found.)
$11.92 value: Brand new hardware pieces installed througout game including new playfield nuts, screws, washers, etc., as required, replacing old worn/dirty original pieces.
