International Game Sales
NOTE: As of January 1, 2008, we will only be selling and shipping games to customers in the U.S. and Canada. We will no longer be selling and shipping games to any other international destinations.
This decision is based mainly on the issue of game safety during shipping: the elevated risks involved with overseas shipments, and the potential costs that can be incurred if a game is damaged and has to be returned to us for repair or replacement. In years past, we have been fortunate in that we have not had any major damage issues or losses with our shipments, and to-date, only 3 incidents where minor repair was required to remedy some minor shipping-related damage issues on a few games.
With the few insurance claims that we have settled with freight carriers in the past, we have still had to incur some additional costs of our own to have damaged games returned to us for repair or replacement, and then again to re-ship them back out to our customers. These are costs that the frieght carriers and/or insurance providers were not willing to pay as part of the coverage on the shipment.
While such periodic costs can be manageable when shipping games locally or domestically, they are substantially higher when dealing with overseas shipments, and after assessing the elevated potential risks and costs that are involved with overseas shipments, we have made the decision to terminate overseas sales, and sell/ship games only within the U.S. and Canada, in order to avoid unnecessary additional risks and costs that we might otherwise incur.
If you are outside the U.S. and Canada and wish to buy a game from us, you may want to look into the option of arranging for your own shipping, or possibly have a friend or associate here in the U.S. acquire the game and ship to you directly. You may also consider searching for a dealer in your local area, in a neighboring country (to avoid longer shipping distances and higher costs), or elsewhere who is willing/able to ship internationally.
Thank you for your understanding! - Action Pinball Management
The following information applies to games sold and shipped to customers in Canada:
- Shipping Methods and Costs:
Games being shipped to Canada can be sent by ground or air freight. Most air freight shipments will require that the customer pick the game up at the nearest international airport, from the customs office there. "To your door" service is usually available on most ground shipments, but may have to be arranged for separately, on your own, if game is going by air freight to international airport.
Costs on game shipments going to Canada are often just slightly higher than standard U.S. shipping rates, mostly due to the longer distance involved. Contact us if you need an exact shipping quote and/or information on shipping options.
For additional information on game shipping and various packing options, see our Packing & Shipping Info page.
- Customs Import Taxes, Delays, and Other Issues:
Goods imported into Canada from the U.S. may be subject to additional import taxes, tariffs, and fees. Fees charged for goods imported from the U.S. may vary and may depend on the sales price of the equipment and type of equipment. We have no information on what fees might be charged on goods imported from the U.S., and rates and restrictions typically change frequently, so we recommend contacting your local post office or customs service office, to get more information on what additional charges you may be responsible for, when buying a game from the U.S.
In addition to import taxes/tariffs/fees (as mentioned above), your customs office may perform a random or mandatory inspection of your goods being imported in from the U.S. Customs inspections can take time, and may delay the delivery of your game for some time. We have heard of delays of a few days up to 2 months in some cases.
Be aware that if your customs office delays the delivery of your game, they may charge you a storage fee for the time that the game is in their posession. We have only heard of this happening once- in Australia- but it may be a good idea to check with your customs service before making your purchase, to see if there may be any possible delays or extra charges. Such issues are completely out of our control, so please check with your local customs service regarding any questions or concerns you may have, before making your purchase.
-
Shipping Insurance:
Shipping insurance is available on most games that we ship outside the U.S. but may not be available on all shipments, depending on the exact game, shipping method, and/or destination. Information on shipping insurance will be provided to international customers before the sale.
Shipping insurance covers only repair or replacement costs, up to the full value of the game. Shipping insurance does not cover freight costs.
- Special Packaging:
Customs offices in some countries may require special packaging of goods coming in from the U.S., including the prohibition or limitation of some packaging materials and/or paper and wood products used for packaging, pallets, and crating. If shipping your game requires special packaging materials that we have to acquire in order to properly pack your game, there may be additional charges for labor, time, and materials that we have to obtain in order to meet the packaging requirements of your customs office.
Please check with your customs service office to find out if your game may require any special packaging or materials in order to ship it to you from the U.S. We will also notify international customers of any known restrictions before finalizing any sale, as long as these restrictions are made available to us from our shipper and your country's customs service before the sale and before your game is shipped. But we cannot be responsible for any changes in customs policy, unknown or undisclosed requirements or restrictions, or any restrictions that are made after your game has shipped out from our shop.
On any long-distance shipment- especially international shipments- we recommend having your game sealed in a custom-made wood crate for additional protection and safety (where wood crating is allowed by customs as a packing material). This is especially recommended on "high end" games, or those that have a higher value. There is an additional charge for this service which covers the cost of extra materials, time and labor, and additional weight. Contact us if you need any further information.
For additional information on game packaging, see our Packing & Shipping Info page.
- Game Warranty and Service:
Games sold outside the U.S. will obviously have some limitations in regard to warranty and service that we are able to provide. Please see our Warranty page for more details.
