Bally AS-2518-35 MPU Board ROM Chip Jumper Settings
NOTICE: For some very important information, please read the Technical Article Notice and Disclaimer, found on our Technical Articles Index page before performing any of the work described below. The information given below assumes you have read the Notice and Disclaimer first.
This article provides jumper settings required in order to run 2716 (2516), 2532 (9332), and 2732 EPROM chips on your Bally AS-2518-35 MPU board. Many Bally AS-2518-35 ("-35") MPU boards came with 9332 PROM chips, or 2732 EPROM chips from the factory. 9332 chips can be replaced directly with 2532 EPROM chips, with no jumpering required. Some boards came with 2716 EPROM chips in locations U1 and U2. These can be combined into a 2732 "combo" EPROM and used as one chip in U2. We have and can make "combo" ROM chips for most games, if you need them. E-mail us for more info, or see our Rom Chips Page. The following jumper settings must be made in order to use the specified chips on the board in locations U1, U2 and U6. The jumper changes aren't too complicated, as long as you are careful, patient, and comfortable working with soldering tools and circuit boards in general. If you are not, then trust the work to someone who is competent- you may thank yourself later. 2716 EPROMs in U2 and U6: The following is a comprehensive list of settings for all 36 jumpers on the board, when using 2716 EPROM chips in locations U2 and U6: ("nc" = not connected) 1-5, 2-4, 3nc, 4-2, 5-1, 6nc, 7-8, 8-7, 9nc, 10-12, 11-29, 12-10, 13nc, 13A-14, 14-13A, 15nc, 16nc, 16A-18, 17nc, 18-16A, 19nc, 20nc, 21nc, 22nc, 23nc, 24nc, 25nc, 26nc, 27nc, 28nc, 29-11, 30nc, 31-32, 32-31, 33-35, 34nc, 35-33, 36nc 2716 EPROMs in U1, U2, and U6: The following is a comprehensive list of settings for all 36 jumpers on the board, when using 2716 EPROM chips in locations U1, U2, and U6: ("nc" = not connected) 1-5, 2-4, 3nc, 4-2, 5-1, 6nc, 7-8, 8-7, 9nc, 10-12, 11-25, 12-10, 13nc, 13A-14, 14-13A, 15nc, 16nc, 16A-18, 17nc, 18-16A, 19nc, 20nc, 21nc, 22nc, 23nc, 24nc, 25-11, 26nc, 27nc, 28nc, 29nc, 30nc, 31-32, 32-31, 33-35, 34nc, 35-33, 36nc 2716 EPROMs in U1 and U2, 9332 PROM in U6: The following is a comprehensive list of settings for all 36 jumpers on the board, when using 2716 EPROM chips in locations U1 and U2, and a 9332 PROM in location U6: ("nc" = not connected) 1-5, 2-4, 3nc, 4-2, 5-1, 6nc, 7-8, 8-7, 9nc, 10-12, 11-25, 12-10, 13nc, 13A-14, 14-13A, 15nc, 16nc, 16A-34, 17nc, 18nc, 19nc, 20nc, 21nc, 22nc, 23nc, 24nc, 25-11, 26nc, 27nc, 28nc, 29-33, 30nc, 31-32, 32-31, 33-29, 34-16A, 35nc, 36nc 2532 EPROMs (or 9332 PROMS) in U2 and U6: The following is a comprehensive list of settings for all 36 jumpers on the board, when using 2532 EPROM chips (or 9332 PROM chips) in locations U2 and U6: ("nc" = not connected) 1 nc, 2 nc, 3 nc, 4-12, 5 nc, 6 nc, 7-8, 8-7, 9 nc, 10-11, 11-10, 12-4, 13 nc, 13A-14, 14-13A, 15 nc, 16 nc, 16A-34, 17 nc, 18 nc, 19 nc, 20 nc, 21 nc, 22 nc, 23 nc, 24 nc, 24A nc, 25 nc, 26 nc, 27 nc, 28 nc, 29-33, 30 nc, 31-32, 32-31, 33-29, 34-16A, 35 nc, 36 nc 2732 EPROMs in U2 and U6: The following is a comprehensive list of settings for all 36 jumpers on the board, when using 2732 EPROM chips in locations U2 and U6: ("nc" = not connected) 1 nc, 2 nc, 3 nc, 4-13A, 5 nc, 6 nc, 7-8, 8-7, 9 nc 10-11, 11-10, 12-GND, 13 nc, 13A-4, 14 nc, 15 nc, 16 nc, 16A-29, 17 nc, 18 nc, 19 nc, 20 nc, 21 nc, 22 nc, 23 nc, 24 nc, 24A nc, 25 nc, 26 nc, 27 nc, 28 nc, 29-16A, 30 nc, 31-32, 32-31, 33-35, 34 nc, 35-33, 36 nc |
