    Getaway ROM Revision Information:

Williams never released any details on changes made between the various software revisions for this game. However, we have gathered the following information over the years from various sources, most being Getaway game owners.

The software that controls the Supercharger was reported to have been changed in rev. L-2, and is supposedly controls the Supercharger more reliably. Reports were made that the Supercharger could produce problems when more than one ball were in the Supercharger at one time, with possible circuit board damage as a result. We have not ever personally verified or witnessed this, but some mention of it has been made.

There were no L-3 or L-4 versions released.

Some bug fixes were attempted between revisions L-2 and L-5, but most say L-5 is more bug-ridden than L-2, and most recommend going with the L-2 revision, as it is accepted as the most stable.

The final L-5 revision of Getaway still has bugs that are and were present even in the earlier and prototype revisions.

If you have any further information on software revisions to this game, we would be glad to hear them and add them to this document.

A summary of most of the known/prevalent features and their presence/absence in the various ROM releases for this game is provided in the table below. This information was gathered, compiled, and provided by Jasper van Zijp (thanks Jasper!):
