Spider-Man V2.6 - November 6, 2010 - System V1.58 Fixed up villain status lamps during battle royale and super hero. Some of these were showing state (blinking) when not available. This has been corrected. Added instruction messages to the super hero background display effect. Fixed green goblin wire color in coil table. Fixed a problem with green goblin. If green goblin was ready to start when super hero was started and won, then green goblin could not be played until the start of the next ball. This has been corrected. The slingshot coils were being double-firing during ball search. This has been corrected. System changes since 1.52: Utility/installs menu (UTIL/INST) subitems now show whether or not the settings in question are installed or not. Added 'action succeeded' and 'action failed' sounds and support for requesting the sound effects during test mode. Fixed a problem where the beta brite sign information was not displaying user defined custom information correctly. Fixed a bug that caused the multiball ball save timer to time down while user code was holding up the kickout of balls from the trough. Fixed a re-entrancy problem with the sound system that would cause loud music volume spikes. Beta-Brite was freeing memory that had not been allocated by the beta-brite system. This has been corrected. The ITALIAN 'GAME OVER' message, displayed during the attract mode on the 128x32 display, did not fit. This has been corrected. *********** Spider-Man V2.4 - November 18, 2009 - System V1.52 Green Goblin, Sandman, and Venom lamp effects were allowed to run during Battle Royale and Super Hero. This has been corrected. After the first set of Doc Ock modes were completed, running through the second set of Bank Bust and Armed At The Dock would not require the correct number of shots to the VUK. This has been corrected. 'timers_off()' logic no longer checks for balls being held in kickouts. Sandman cycling 3-bank target lamps could possibly blink in a strange way. This has been corrected. 'ABORT ANIMATIONS' adjustment default now set to 'ONE'. Choreographed the shaker motor shaking for Dune of Doom a bit better. Black suit multiball flasher for super jackpot lit was not being killed at end of ball. This has been corrected. *********** Spider-Man V2.3 - August 18, 2009 - System V1.52 Fixed a problem with the Doc Ock rule. If "Armed at the Dock" was restarted during the grace period (either by Spider-Sense or by starting another multiball), then "Fusion Malfunction" VUK shots would say "Bank Bust". This is horribly wrong and has been corrected. Ball save now OFF for Director's Cut. The trough jam switch was missing the 'trough jam' attribute. This was causing the trough jam switch to show up in the wrong location during 'clear balls' test. This has been corrected. Added shaker motor code to combos, combo multiball, black suit multiball, and the modes. Combos require the setting to be 'MAXIMAL'. *********** Spider-Man V2.2 - April 8, 2009 - System V1.51 (Foreign language versions will be posted as time permits). - Director's cut installs 'INSULT_LEVEL' to HIGH, 'ABORT_ANIMATIONS' to 'ONE'. - Fixed some sound effects, most notably the delay problems with the "lock #2" kickout sound and the "dune of doom completed" kickout sound. - The background lamp effects for kickout-holding events now wait for the corresponding start choreography before running. - System compressed rendering algorithms implemented for Indiana Jones has freed up enough space in the image to add animation frames back to many sequences. The sequences are now reasonably smooth, with no sequence skipping more than every other frame. - Added shaker motor code to Battle Royale; it was missing. Added lamp effects for Doc Ock and Venom totals. Added pop bumper lamps to the attract mode. Added lamp effects for all mode starts. Added more shaker motor shaking to Sandman "Dune of Doom" effect. Spinner effect now only requested on the first spin, such that blowing off multiple queued display effects (when "ABORT ANIMATIONS" is set to "ONE") will not re-trigger the spinner effect. - Added lamp effects for mode totals. - Added a lamp effect for the Black Suit multiball total. - Added a lamp effect for the Battle Royale total. - Added lamp effects for mode awards and mode completions. System changes since 1.48: Fixed a backwards-compatibility issue with process termination. Fixed two issues with the real-time clock. Trough stack (jam) opto debounce time increased to better filter any possible switch noise. *********** Spider-Man V2.1 - December 10, 2008 - System V1.48 Randomized the Dune of Doom speech such that the limited speech we have (2 phrases) does not always occur on the first hit. Added Doc Ock, 3-Bank, and Sandman motor tests to the game-specific tests. Added an 'ABORT ANIMATIONS' adjustment to abort some animations when both flippers are pressed (usually when a ball is held somewhere on the playfield) . The default value is 'NONE' to retain previous behavior. A value of 'ONE' will require new flipper button presses to abort each animation in a queued (pending) sequence. A value of 'ALL' will abort all queued (pending) animations in a sequence at once. *********** Spider-Man V2.00 - November 26, 2008 - System V1.47 Added display effects, lamp effects, sound effects, and speech. *********** Spider-Man V1.9 - October 31, 2007 - System V1.32 Changes since version 1.7: Filled out installs tables. Added some screams to the "Rescue MJ" award display effects. Added some sounds back to the mode awards. Ball search is now put off (for the default amount of time) at the end of all choreography effects. This keeps ball search away at the end of long effects (Battle Royale, for instance). Added art and speech for "Daily Bugle". This is still extremely rough and will be worked on again at a later date. Cleaned up the music for the start of Venom #1, Battle Royale, and Super Hero. The music was not always starting at the same time the display effects were started (due to Update being asynchronous). These have been corrected. Added some instructions to the mode background display effects. Roughed in a display effect for the start of "Daily Bugle". Fixed "BALL LOCKED" spelling for Spanish. Added a lamp effect for BS multiball super jackpot lit. Added a background lamp effect for BS multiball super jackpot lit. Changed the BS multiball super jackpot lamp effect to be more in the flavor of "ball locked", "multiball start", "jackpot", etc. Cleaned up the attract mode logo artwork. Added some artwork to attract mode (Spider-Man). Reworked the white arrow lamps (update + 2x, 3x collected). Added "real" lamp effects for BS multiball jackpot and super jackpot awards. Bonesaw mode now uses outline fonts for the background. Changed the edge spacing on the timers for the mode background display effects. Added some speech for when the start button is pressed with no credits. Ball save speech now says "Play Better" on MEDIUM or higher insult level. Added some speech for tilt. This goes against my better judgment, but there ARE some cool quotes. The Amazing Spider-Man mode now has a simple animation and some instructions. Extra ball now scores 5 million points, and special now scores 25 million points. Changed 'attract mode hight score to date' to display the name of the H.S.T.D. in the 5X5 font, instead of the 6X8 font. This overrides the system version. The spider sense awards for the modes now add more time to the mode timer, if possible. Increased the default ball search delay time from 10 seconds to 12 seconds. The BS multiball start music no longer loops. Added a lamp effect for the start of BS multiball. Fixed sound faders taking too long to be restored. Added artwork for combos. Added speech for "The Amazing Spider-Man" mode. Cleaned up "Bonesaw" start display effect (mostly the speech). Switch hits for Bonesaw now not awarded until the start display effect is out of the way. Fixed waiting for speech during Battle Royale and modes. Added artwork for "Bonesaw" and "The Amazing Spider-Man" modes. Bonus now quiets the music track before sending out the 'nice bonus' speech. Doc Ock super jackpot lit now flashes the Doc Ock flasher to draw attention to the shot for super jackpot. Added 'jackpot' and 'super jackpot' speech. Added light shows. The match effect now quiets all sound tracks before running. Roughed in a 'game over' lamp effect. If the bonus display effect sends out any 'nice bonus' speech, then it waits for the speech to finish before exiting. Speech in all languages resampled down to 12kHz. Ball search was not being delayed long enough during certain choreography sequences to keep the ball search from running when a ball was held in a kickout. This has been corrected. The replay display effect was saying "Way to go kid, you just won a free game" during instances where a free game was not awarded. This has been corrected. Added artwork for match. Added a way to cancel and resume the player language select. Added display effects, lamp effects, and sound effects to the "Rescue MJ" mode. Mode "out of time" speech now starts sooner. MJ lamps now blink according to how much time is left before the shot will change. New MJ shots are no longer added if a shot is scored during the grace period. *** System Changes since V1.30: Fixed a problem with ball search. If a request was made to put off ball search for a smaller amount of time than a larger value that was already timing down, then the smaller amount of time would overwrite the larger amount of time, which would often result in ball search occurring when it should not. This has been corrected. Fixed a problem with font rendering. If the font character information happened to be in a different flash memory bank than the font character image data, then the characters would be rendered incorrectly (they would be clipped off the screen due to garbage horizontal and vertical offsets being read from the wrong flash memory bank). This has been corrected. The process system has been modified to allow processes to be created and killed from the termination function associated with a process. To date, only Spider-Man pinball uses this technique, and the re-entrancy problems caused by doing so would occasionally cause the game to reboot in the middle of gameplay (usually during one of the Doc Ock multiballs stacked together with a Sandman battle and/or BS multiball). This has been corrected. Shortened the tilt sound, as there was a lot of dead space at the end of the sound. Added an error for a request to set the hardware attenuation to an out of range value. Fixed the foreign language versions of the 'DISPLAY HELP SCREEN' messages in the tournament submenu. Fixed a problem with the '1' (one) character in the 7x10 outline font. The character was not the same width as the rest of the numeric characters. This has been corrected. Fixed the 'custom' tournament setup such that it is possible to set up a high score tournament with only 1 prize. Bump 'N' Win tournaments are still a minimum of 2 prizes (one for the high score, and one for a single position in the Bump 'N' Win table). Added new Norway pricing. ******************************************************************************* Spider-Man V1.7 - July 26, 2007 - System V1.30 *** Changes since version 1.6: Red arrow shots + extra ball lit + special lit effects now do not run under certain circumstances (most notably, when tilted at the end of Doc Ock). The skill shots were not being started after super hero had been won. This has been corrected. Added artwork, speech, sounds, and lamp effects for the "New Goblin" mode. Added some artwork for the "Rescue MJ" mode. Added display/lamps/sounds/speech for "New Goblin" mode. Added sounds and speech. Lowered the starting bucket value for bonus. Added some artwork and sounds for Green Goblin battle mode #3. The background lamp effect for Venom battle mode #1 was running during the grace period for the hurry-up. This has been corrected. Changed the optical switch scanning values for the Doc Ock magnet to help eliminate some of the noise that shows up on the optical switches from time to time. Super hero champion was not being recorded. This has been corrected. The factory default value for the 'LOOP AWARDS' adjustment has been changed from 'SANDMAN VUK' to 'LOOP SWITCHES'. Added some artwork and sounds for Green Goblin. *** System Changes since V1.29: The background lamp effect for "get balls into play" was not being killed when the "balls into play" request finished. This has been corrected. Changed Norway 2 pricing (now 20NKr/1); added Norway 3 pricing (20NKr/1 40NKr/3). Added a way to get at the fractional portion of the credits. Fixed some misspellings in Spanish ("RESET GRAND CHAMPION" and "RESET FACTORY SETTINGS"). Removed the audit calculation function for 'base replay'. This was a remnant of the old system and is no longer used. Fixed a problem with the USB "Make File" command. This function was not setting the directory search mode correctly. Implemented 'recent' audits. These are local audit values that are cleared each time the 'DUMP AUDITS TO USB' test menu entry is executed. Factory reset no longer resets the real-time clock, as long as the clock is valid and has been set manually. High score to date now times out if it appears that the player is not doing anything to enter their initials. Added an icon for ticket dispenser test. ******************************************************************************* *** Changes since version 1.5: Fixed a problem with the super hero background lamp effect. It was obscuring the 'spider sense' lamp when it should not have been. Fixed some issues with stale add-a-ball awards being available on the spider sense collect shot when they should not have been. All multiballs now offer 'add-a-ball' via spider-sense. Fixed issues with resetting the villain battle modes. Green Goblin, Sandman, and Venom were not being reset correctly once all of their battle modes were completed. (These would get reset correctly once super hero was started). *** System changes since V1.28: Small refinements to collecting balls system code. Fixed a misspelling for the Italian 'CYCLING COILS' test. Added a function to the multiball device system that allows for the collection of balls. Fixed a bug having to do with lost ball recovery. If ball search executed 5 times consecutively during a game, then the balls in play were assumed to be lost, and a new ball would be served to the shooter lane. If the game was tilted, then the current ball in play would be forfeited, which is the correct behavior. If the game was not tilted when the serve was attempted, then the current ball in play would not be forfeited. This has been corrected. The attract mode display effect for custom message was not auto-sizing the fonts. This would cause long messages to be rendered (clipped) off the screen. This has been corrected. ******************************************************************************* *** Changes since version 1.4: Cleaned up some issues with the 'loop awards' adjustment. Sandman hits are no longer awarded for the sandman VUK, unless the hit is going to finish the battle mode. Fixed a bug with resetting the modes. Added 'loop awards' adjustment. This adjustment allows awards to be given from the loop switches, instead of waiting for the ball to be diverted into the sandman VUK. Roughed in super hero. Added last chance. This is lit on the last ball (with no extra balls) when battle royale or super hero are available to start. It is also available when super hero gets down to 1 ball. Moved up the speech for the doc ock total displays. Fixed a problem with bonus. When the spider arrows were added to bonus, the displayed value would often not match the value that was scored. This has been corrected. Changed the display effect for the battle royale jackpot. Added display effects and sounds for battle royale. Bottom lanes add 1 multiplier instead of 2. Combos are now started correctly when a shot for super loops is made. Tweaked the main multiball ball 2 locked lamp effect. Locks for main multiball during some other multiball are now awarded off of the loop switch. This is because a ball could be sitting in the sandman hole and the lock would not get awarded in this case. Added 'sandman hit' artwork to battle royale.
