Tips for Use of Cleaner/Polish & Wax Products:

Novus Cleaner/Polish Products:
Novus plastic polishes come in 3 grades and can be used for cleaning and polishing plastic parts and cleaning/polishing playfields on new and old games. Novus #2 and #3 are creamy liquid polishing compounds used for removing scratches from plastic surfaces and polishing. Novus #1 is a liquid spray- much like a glass cleaner- that is used for final cleanup after Novus #2 and #3 or for very fine cleaning/polishing. Novus #1 is also an anti-static compound which is good for use on video monitors or plexiglass overlays.

A lot of people like to use Novus #2 for cleaning/polishing the playfield surface on later-model pinball games. Novus #3 is the most abrasive grade of polish and is recommended for heavy scratches or rougher surfaces that need extra polishing. After using Novus #3, use Novus #2 to do a finer polish and remove finer scratches and swirl marks. Novus #1 can be used as a final step to clean off any remaining polish and for very fine scratch polishing.

Novus #2 and #3 are best applied using a clean soft cloth. Add a few drops, or a "bead" of polish to the cloth, and rub/polish an area of about 6" square at a time on the playfield. Rub/polish with the cloth until the playfield area is clean. If playfield is excessively dirty, you may need to rotate the cloth to a clean area and add some more Novus and continue cleaning. A rotating/swirling motion of the cloth, as you clean, will give best results.

Wax Products:
After the playfield has been sufficiently cleaned/polished, you can then apply 1 or more coats of protective wax. We typically apply 2 coats of wax to most games we restore- and some games as many as 4 coats- just depending on the amount of protection you want to have on the playfield finish.

Apply the wax in the same method you used to apply the cleaner/polish. Not so much "rubbing" or "polishing" is needed in the application since the playfield is already clean- just simply swirl it on until you have covered the whole playfield, or the areas of the playfield that you want waxed.

Let the wax dry for 20-30 minutes or so (depending on temperature and humidity), until it has developed a "hazy" look and is dry enough to buff off. Using a new, clean cloth, buff the wax off, in a circular motion. And be sure to turn the cloth frequently to keep a clean portion of it on the playfield. The dried wax will have a tendency to build up quickly on the clean cloth, so rotating it frequently will keep the dry wax coming up off the playfield with as little trouble as possible.

Diamond Bright Cleaner/Polish: - DISCONTINUED PRODUCT -
Diamond Bright cleaner/polish is a creamy liquid cleaner/polish for playfield cleaning. It is best applied using a clean soft cloth. Add a few drops, or a "bead" of Diamond Bright to the cloth, and rub/polish an area of about 6" square at a time on the playfield. Rub/polish with the cloth until the playfield area is clean. If playfield is excessively dirty, you may need to rotate the cloth to a clean area and add some more Diamond Bright and continue cleaning. A rotating/swirling motion of the cloth, as you clean, will give best results.

After the whole playfield has been cleaned/polished with Diamond Bright, let it sit for approximately 20 minutes, and then buff with a clean soft cloth to further polish and remove any leftover Diamond Bright.

If your playfield is very dirty, or dry, it may have a tendency to "soak up" the Diamond Bright cleaner, and sometimes this can leave some faint "swirl" marks on the playfield after you have buffed it clean. If this is the case, you can remove the swirl marks with another quick application of Diamond Bright on any "swirl" areas- usually applying it, then removing a few minutes later, rather than letting it sit for 20 minutes.

CP-100 Playfield Cleaner & Rubber Restorer: - DISCONTINUED PRODUCT -
CP-100 is a liquid pinball playfield cleaner and rubber restorer. It can be used to clean the playfield on pinball machines, and for wiping clean rubber rings and bumpers on the playfield, removing built-up dirt and grime. CP-100 is best applied using a clean soft cloth. With a cloth held over the open bottle, tip the bottle to wet the cloth, and use to clean an area of about 6" square at a time on the playfield. Rub/polish with the cloth until the playfield area is clean. If playfield is excessively dirty, you may need to rotate the cloth to a clean area and add some more CP-100 and continue cleaning. A rotating/swirling motion of the cloth, as you clean, will give best results.

To clean rubber rings and bumpers, simply wipe the dampened cloth over the rubber parts, as required. Rotate the cloth frequently to avoid a build-up of dirt/grime as you clean.
