Bally Gold Ball Rom Revision Info Provided by Action Pinball & Amusement, LLC www.actionpinball.com Two versions of software were produced by Bally for Gold Ball- Version 1 and Version 2. Version 1 was the original software designed with the game at production. Version 2 was provided post-production as a "Field Service Kit" from Bally which included a new U2 ROM chip for the MPU board. Both versions were a different U2 ROM chip for the original MPU board that came with the game from the factory. Regardless of which version U2 chip you use (Version 1 or Version 2), they will both use the same U6 ROM chip, so there is no need to change out the U6 ROM when you are switching U2 ROM versions. Details: Version 1: The gold ball feature used an operator-adjustable percentage (1-15%) for the random release of the gold-colored ball into the shooter lane, awarded as an extra ball. When the gold ball is in play, all playfield scores are tripled. Version 2: The gold ball release rules were changed to a skill feature instead of a percentage. The player must light G-O-L-D-B-A-L-L using the center standup target, the star rollovers, or the left return lane. The gold ball will be issued once the current ball has been lost and is considered an extra ball. -- Provided by Action Pinball & Amusement, 2004. www.actionpinball.com End of Document
