Williams 'Thunderball' ROM Revision History Provided by: Action Pinball & Amusement, LLC Web: www.actionpinball.com -------------------------------------------- Article Sections: 1) ROM Revision History 2) ROM Info & Jumper Settings 1) ROM Revsion Info: -------------------- As this game never went to production, the game ROM software for it was never fully finalized, so each available version will have some nuances. If you have any further details to add to this listing, please contact us. Revision '622' (June 22, 1982): ------------------------------ This version seems to be the most stable. Revision '831' (August 31, 1982): ------------------------------ This version appears to have more exciting game play/rules, but goes to Game Over after any Super Wave. Revision '908' (September 8, 1982): ------------------------------ Gameplay is similar to the 831 version, but randomly locks up during operation, and displays go blank. 2) ROM Info & Jumper Settings: ----------------------- All ROM chips for Thunderball originally shipped from the factory as 2532 EPROMs (MPU and sound boards jumpered for 2532 EPROMs in their respective ROM locations). Game ROMs consist of chips IC14 and IC20 on the MPU board. ROM IC26 is not used in Thunderball (IC26 socket on MPU board is empty). With all game ROM versions, Thunderball uses these same ROM chips: - IC17: Standard 'blue label' Flipper ROM 2 on the MPU board. - IC12: Sound ROM on sound board. - IC4, IC5, IC6, IC7: Speech ROMs on speech board. There were no different versions for IC17 or the sound & speech ROMs. If you need to verify or change ROM jumpers on your MPU board, see our Technical Article at: www.actionpinball.com/tech/l7_jump.php Jumper settings for sound ROM can be found in any game manual that uses the standard Williams sound board. There are no jumper settings for speech ROMs- original board was designed to use 2532 EPROMs without modification. ----- END OF FILE
