24-pin CMOS latch/decoder IC for lamp driver boards found in many early Bally and Stern electronic solid-state (SS) pinball games. Replaces Bally # E-620-37, and CD4514BE, CD4514BCN, HEF4514BP, MC14514B, MC14514CP, MM14514BCN, NTE4514B, and similar others.
These chips are tested in-shop before shipping to confirm proper operation. Image is sample only- brand may vary depending on current availability.
NOTE for chip socket installation: Lamp driver boards in early Bally and Stern electronic solid-state (SS) games were not designed for chip sockets. The spacing for the chip legs on these boards is slightly wider than the spacing of legs on a chip socket. This was so Bally/Stern could install chips directly on the board, with the chip legs angled slightly outward, as chips come from many manufacturers (chip legs must have no angle inward/outward when installed in chip sockets). See additional images below for example.
To install a socket on one of these boards to accommodate this chip, we recommend either using individual 12-pin SIP sockets for either side of the chip, or cutting the bridging from a 24-pin DIP socket, and installing each side separately, as shown in the additional images below. This chip (14514) will fit in the socket when installed this way.
