Wedge-base lamp socket and switch holder for older versions of illuminated pushbutton assemblies, such as older versions of Williams # 20-9663-xx and similar. See important notes below for more details.
This socket holds a #555 lamp or LED, installs in the back of the pushbutton housing, and also holds the microswitch which is actuated by the pushbutton (lamp and microswitch sold separately).
IMPORTANT NOTES: - OLD STYLE: This socket is for the older style pushbutton housings where the socket PUSHES and SNAPS IN from behind. Later/modern assemblies have a different socket which twists-in 1/8 turn. Please check your old button housing to be sure it is the older push-in type before ordering. This socket will not work with the newer style housings.
- LED Fitment: Most wedge base LEDs will not fit/work with this style pushbutton assembly as they are too wide or too tall, preventing fit, or preventing the button from pressing all the way in. You will need a standard incandescent lamp, or a short/narrow LED bulb to fit/work in pushbutton assemblies like this (we do not carry these special types of LEDs).
- LED Installation: For wedge base LEDs that fit this style pushbutton (see previous note), it is recommended that the wire leads on the base of the LED be bent outward slightly in order to make better contact with the terminals inside the lamp socket. Example image (click to enlarge):
