Relay board for controlling coils, motors, general illumination lights, and other possible devices in many Bally and Williams games from late 1980s and early 1990s (see notes, and game listing below).
New aftermarket replacement for original obsolete factory part # A-14423.
Relay on this board replaces Bally/Williams # 5580-12782-00 (12 volt cube relay).
Need the 24-volt version of this board? Order part # C-11998-1 instead.
NOTES:- This is a modern reproduction part that fits/functions the same as the original part, but has a slightly different layout and look.
- Please verify you are ordering the correct part before purchasing, as this electronic item is not returnable.
- This board has a 12-volt relay and requires approx. 12 volts DC at pin 1 on connector J1. Please check your voltage before ordering.
- This same board is available with a 24-volt relay as part # C-11998-1. If your game supplies approx. 24 volts DC at pin 1 on connector J1, you will need to order part # C-11998-1 instead.
- Capacitors C1, C2, C3, C4 are not included nor installed on this board as they are typically not needed. The factory designed these to be spark suppressors for the relay contacts to help extend their life, but the way the game controls this board does not typically require these capacitors. Example of normal operation:
- Game activates relay on this board and contacts close. Coil connected through relay is already off (or should be), so no contact spark.
- Game activates coil connected through relay. Coil turns on.
- Game de-activates coil connected through this relay. Coil turns off.
- Game de-activates relay on this board and contacts open. Coil already off (or should be), so no contact spark.
The only situation where you would need caps in any positions C1, C2, C3, C4 is if the coil being controlled by this relay was constantly enabled, which would cause spark when relay contacts close and open.
If you need/want to add capacitors to these positions, we recommend 0.1uF 500v disc capacitors (sold separately). This value cap is commonly installed for spark suppression across leaf switches that control coils, and will work with all possible voltages of coils, flash lamps, motors, etc., that can be operated by this relay board.
Some spark can still be present even with capacitors installed, so do not be alarmed. Capacitors simply suppress, or reduce, spark, and may not totally eliminate spark.
We do not guarantee proper operation of devices controlled by this relay board when capacitors are added as various devices can function differently with capacitors in circuit, so if installing them, do so at your own risk, and verify proper device operation before committing to having capacitors left in place on this board.
Mounting standoffs not included- re-install your originals.
- If your connector housings/terminals that connect to this board show any signs of overheating or damage, we strongly recommend replacing them correctly to ensure proper operation. See Related Items below for connector housings and terminals that fit/work with this board.
