Replacement for disc capacitors across switch contact points on many early Bally and Stern electronic solid-state (SS) pinball games (1977-1985), and some circuit boards and switches on other makes/models as well.
Most original capacitors will go bad and short out after years of operation, which can lead to false closed switches and intermittent operation in the game, or no function at all. Old dying capacitors are often to blame for erratic switch problems- or phantom switch closures- where the game acts like the ball hit a switch but it really did not.
Great addition to switch contacts if your original disc capacitors have fallen off, or were never installed. Improves performance on devices such as pop bumpers, standup targets, star rollover button switches, tilt mechanisms, and wireform rollover switches that often get only brief (and often undetected) closures by fast-moving balls.
Replaces original disc capacitors rated at 0.050uf 20v (now obsolete), including Bally/Midway part # E-586-80 and Stern Pinball # 130-5001-00. Also replaces Williams # 5A-9030.
This modern replacement part may be smaller and different in shape/color than original cap(s) on your game, but functions the same.
