Voltage comparitor IC. Quad comparator (has 4 separate circuits inside). 16-pin DIP package.
Many pinball applications, mostly for translating switch signals. Found in later-model Bally/Williams WPC pinball games on MPU boards and switch opto driver boards under playfields. Also on Fliptronics flipper boards to convert the flipper button signal into a switch signal for the computer.
Some late 1980s Bally/Williams games also had LM339 on drop target opto PC boards.
Replaces BA10339, HP339N, LM339AN, LM339N, LM339NG, Williams # 5370-12272-00, Stern # 100-0377-00, Gottlieb # XO-583, and similar others.
Replaces chips U19, U20, U21 on Gottlieb System 3 control board (MPU board).
Common failure part in most games- good to keep a few of these for spares.
Install with 14-pin chip socket.
