Before You Buy:
Before you buy a pinball machine (or other type of game) from us, or anyone else, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you first locate a reputable service person (or company) in your local area who you can call if you need in-person help or service.
Pinball machines have hundreds of intricate moving parts, and like anything with moving parts, they will need periodic maintenance, service, and repair, to keep them functioning properly.
If you are not comfortable or experienced with working on a pinball machine yourself, you will have to enlist the help of a qualified service person in your local area.
You can search online in your local area for "Pinball Repair" for possible leads. Additionally, you may find someone in the business, or hobby, in the Mr. Pinball Collector Register which is an online listing of pinball collectors, repair persons, and enthusiasts all around the world.
Make sure that whomever you find has experience with the kind of pinball machine you want to buy. For example, some service persons may have experience only with the older mechanical pinballs. Others may be experienced with the newer equipment only, and not be able to help if you own an older model game. Some may make house calls, some may require you to bring the game to their shop.
You may also want to ask for references or browse "Google reviews", "Yelp", etc., for more information about repair persons or companies in your area.
If you do not have a qualified service source in your area, and are not comfortable or willing/able to work on your game by yourself, you may want to re-consider purchasing a game. There's no point in owning one if you are unable to get it service/repaired when needed.
Game Warranty:
NOTE: As of March 2023, after 27 years in the business, we have retired from the service/repair side of our business, so are no longer providing service/repair of pinball and video games.
With this change, we are no longer able to provide a full warranty with games that we sell through our shop.
If you buy a game from us and have a problem with it or need a replacement part, obviously we will help you to what extent we can, but cannot provide a full warranty of the game.
As stated above, we recommend that you have a service person in your local area who you can call to help when issues come up, as we likely will not be able to fully do so from our end.
In our local area? (Salt Lake City, Utah) See our Game Service & Repair page for a listing of alternate local sources for game service/repair.
Service After the Sale:
"How often should I have my game serviced?"
We recommend a general tune-up, service, and inspection once a year, or more frequently if your game gets frequent use.
Recommended Service Items:
- Pin Balls: We recommend replacing the pin ball(s) once a year, to keep them smooth and shiny, and to avoid worn/scratched balls which can act as an abrasive to the fragile playfield surface and artwork. New pin balls can be ordered through our website.
- Batteries: In games that use them, batteries for MPU board (backup memory) in the backbox must be replaced every few years to keep them fresh, and to avoid bursting/leakage which can damage expensive circuit boards beyond repair. We recommend checking batteries once a year, and replacing every 2 years. Batteries should be carefully replaced while the power is on to prevent loss of power to the memory chip, which can wipe out your high scores, settings, adjustments, etc. Contact us if you have any questions or require any assistance. Batteries are available for purchase through our website.
- Rubber Rings: Most rubber rings will last a few years before they start to dry out and lose their bounce. We recommend replacing them every few years to keep them fresh and bouncy. This will keep your game playing at it's best. Individual rubber rings and bumpers, as well as full rubber kits for specific games, are available for purchase through our website.
- Playfield Cleaning/Polishing & Wax: We recommend general/light cleaning of your game periodically- typically when you start to see ball tracks- lines of dirt where the ball frequently rolls. Or generally when you start to notice the playfield and parts becoming dirty from use. We recommend cleaning/polishing, then waxing the playfield once a year, and cleaning off rubber rings periodically with a petroleum-based product (lighter fluid or WD-40) as they start to show dirt. Playfield cleaner/polish and wax are available for purchase through our website.
As always, free technical support and assistance are always available to our customers by e-mail, for as long as they own the game. We're always glad to help in any way we can by e-mail, should you ever have a question or a problem with your game.
While we encourage our customers to work on and maintain their own games themselves, we don't recommend that you work on or make any changes to your game if you are uncertain about what you are doing. Any damage or problems caused to the game from your own work will void the warranty, and will not be covered under warranty. Even moving the game to another room, up or down stairs, or to another location (building) can cause problems to appear, if you are not careful or certain about what you are doing. Contact us anytime if you have any questions about working on, or maintaining your game.
