Game ROM Information- South Park 'Profanity' ROM Versions:

Prototype/pre-production versions of ROM chip software for South Park that were in developement at the factory before the game was officially released include some different gameplay, audio, and additional "profanity", which were not in the regular production release of the software.

This early software was considered incomplete/unfinished, and was not supported or documented by the factory.

We've compiled the info below over the years from various South Park pinball owners and enthusiasts who have operated this early version of software in their games and observed differences and technical issues with it.

It's unlikely that ALL features/differences in the prototype versions have been documented thus far, so if you have any info to add that isn't already listed here, please contact us about adding it to our list.

Known gameplay/scoring differences:
  • Cartman "carpet licking race" video game mode is present. Activate by shooting Chef's hole when mystery light is lit.
  • Default replay value is 150,000,000 points (120,000,000 in regular production version).
  • Mr. Mackey mode is much simpler (misspelled "Mackie" in this mode). The switch score is 400,000 (500,000 in regular production version).
Known audio differences/shortcomings/issues:
  • By default, the word "ass" is not bleeped-out when a coin is inserted (Miss Crabtree phrase). (Disabling "Adult Language" mode in game adjustments will bleep-out "ass".)
  • Stan, Kyle, and Cartman will occasionally say "ass rammer" during play.
  • Stan will occasionally say "butt pirate!" during play.
  • Various other profanity during play.
  • Music during multiball is different- a combination of standard game play music and Kenny tune.
  • Multiball start animation is shorter in length.
  • Kyle mode music for reviving Mr. Hanky is standard gameplay music.
  • Stan mode music during Barf mode target shot is standard gameplay music.
  • Stan mode music does not have its own theme, but instead it borrows the theme song from Mr. Mackey/Volcano mode.
  • Kenny Kill Mode: Kenny rocks differently (short wiggle rather than strong side to side).
  • When Kenny is killed, the animiation has no accompanying audio (there are no sounds or rat squeaks).
  • Mr. Mackey Mode: No animation- just text instructions that say "Mr. Mackie- Fast Scoring All Switches 400K-Mkay?".
  • Volcano mode: Missing some animations. Shows placeholder text of "EFFECT 6C", and has text instructions at beginning of mode.
  • Chef Mode: When making mystery shot, Chef's voice volume is lower.
  • Extra ball audio is different.
  • Music doesn't change when Mr. Hankey pops out of the toilet.
  • Some audio clips are a garbled static sound (assumed unfinished programming, or missing intended audio clips).
  • Some audio clips may be frequently repeated during game play.

There may be additional differences or other issues not yet listed here. If you have anything to add to this list, please contact us.

If you are interested in purchasing this software version for South Park, please consider first the pros/cons of the technical issues versus the additional features that this software version has, as it is not returnable- all sales are final.
